The creature thing looks almost like the Plucker from this book I just read by this guy named Brom. The book was "The Plucker". Really good.

i don't know whether brom's done any other books yet... go to bromart.com. he's got lots of work under his belt, though :3

YES. MMMMM, ABARAT You have to pick up a copy of the book. It's almost like Alice in Wonderland with a whimsical dose of hallucinogens. (Though, it really only relates to Alice in that it's about a girl who on a magical adventure)
