Description Green releases Blue's arms and jumps to her feet.  She isn't taking chances, but she knows that she can take her time if she wants to.  Blue's shoulders, traps and neck are experiencing waves of dull but intense pain as she is finally able to relax them.  She is incapacitated for a few seconds as she waits for the cramps to dissipate, and for a few seconds her arms won't respond to her brain's desperate demands.  She makes the mistake of rolling onto her stomach to see if she can press herself into a crouch, so that she can stand up.

Green calmly walks behind her opponent, pushes her legs apart, and kneels in between.  Blue's surprise at this sudden intrusion causes her to freeze for a moment, and before she knows what is happening her left leg is trapped.  Green has applied a very simple hold this time, but it's worse than the previous hold.  The basic position is painful, as it places stress on her hip and knee.  It becomes excruciating when Green applies pressure on her foot.  The pain of having her ankle twisted is added to the additional pain in her hip and knee.  As with the previous hold, Green expends very little energy to apply it and to intensify it, but Blue must make a great physical effort to keep the pain from forcing her to submit.

Had Green applied this move first, Blue would have been able to escape it due to her superior strength and pain tolerance.  But Blue is shocked to find that the hold is very secure.  She's still winded from the effort to escape the previous hold, and her upper body is still aching.  So --she now realizes-- is her core.  Her obliques threaten to seize up if she makes too strenuous an effort, leaving her unable to turn herself.  Green did not position her knees in Blue's crotch to humiliate her; the positioning makes it very difficult for her to use her lower body to generate force.  If Blue tries to turn to her left she adds to the pressure on her hip.  If she tries to raise her butt in order to push Green off with her right foot, Green only has to lean forward and apply pressure to the ankle.  At one point she made a feeble attempt to reach behind with her right hand, but Green grabbed her fingers and Blue swiftly pulled the hand back.  She'd had enough of having her fingers abused!

Green might seem to be gloating, but that is not why she is smiling.  After establishing control and making it clear to Blue that she was, once again, helpess to fight back, she addressed her.  Her tone is almost gentle as she tells her "Blue, we both know you can't win this fight.  Tap out, there's no shame in it."  Blue snarls back, "Go to hell!  I'm going to kick your ass!"  The reply doesn't sound very convincing, being delivered between gasps.  Green smiles as she calmly replies "you won't be kicking anything with a dislocated hip, sprained knee and broken ankle, honey."  She feels Blue's body stiffen at this threat, but the young fighter grits her teeth and hisses "whatever... it... takes."

Green is smiling because the belief she had, that this young lady has what it takes to be great, has been confirmed.  Time to drive the lesson home.

Technical Notes: I had a slightly different hold in mind originally but I didn't think it would look like it could be maintained if the pain inflicted was great enough.  This hold looks quite painful and very dangerous, while requiring little more than a bit of balance.  I would imagine that it is not used in any wrestling matches because it looks like it could lead to severe knee damage, even if it wasn't used with that intent.

Green can nw pour in as much pain as she wants  , the essence of skilled sub wrestling - postion then apply pressure .

I agree your body shapes are perfect for wrestling

Thank you.  I like to draw women who look like they can handle whatever is thrown at them.

Very nice hold...your combatants have a very realistic body type for wrestling and the grappling movements are quite well done!

Very nice! I also like your story - Green is almost zenlike in her approach, is she acting as a mentor to Blue?

I said this earlier but Blue has a fantastic wrestler's body, muscular arms and shoulders and those thighs! I hope she gets to use them in a suffocating headscissors one day.

She would have been willing to mentor Blue in a more traditional (and less painful) manner, but some of the younger wrestlers look down on the veterans.  Blue decided to bully the older woman and is learning her lesson the hard way.

As for the physique, I am used to drawing overly muscular and/or overly sexualized women, so this is a nice change-of-pace.  Her body is realistic, but she's still powerful.  She looks like she's built for wrestling.

Thanks for the comment!

Very well-explained. I always liked the old-young, veteran-rookie, heel-face contrast (and my favourites are typically old veteran heels , like Moolah, or Judy Martin, Leilani Kei.

I've been trying to think who your wrestlers remind me of: Green is like a tweener (between a heel and a face, or both), may a Penny Banner or Sue Green (coincidence??). Blue - well maybe a young Wendy Richter?

Fabulous Moolah and Wendy Richter were vaguely in mind when I decided to develop the first image into a continuing series, because I remember their feud in the 80s.  I don't think I had a specific idea in mind when I started that first sketch, sometimes I just start drawing and let the image develop as it will.  From there the visual cues in the image help me to figure out where to take it.  I don't think I saw either as a heel in this particular instance, though my feeling is that Green fulfilled that role at various times in her long career.

I don't know what I love more......the image or your description of the match. You cover all the bases in BOTH! I also love that you've made Miss Green the better technical wrestler as her experience and not her age shows just makes her the better woman...at least in this match. Another fantastic piece and hope there will be a part six.

Thanks so much!  I describe myself as a storyteller instead of a writer or artist, because it's what I try to do.  And I think a big key to storytelling is to engage the reader, and that means providing enough context and motivation that the reader can feel something for the characters.  I am sure that some people want Blue to turn things around and demolish her opponent, while others love to see Green continue to dominate the match.  If I can make their struggles and emotions relatable, I've done my job.
