Thank you very much for your critique!
Your tips are very useful <3

Yes I made a specific palette for this ;w;
I tend to find it really difficult adding very different colors in a palette, especially in traditional art when you have the create the colors yourself ><

Yep it's all acrylics, I don't even own watercolors ;w;
I indeed used the acrylics to create the watercolor effects ~

Oh Winter it's cold it's chilly it's the season to stay inside sometime Other than that this is a really good artwork Plus that's one big giant snowball that's the girl is sitting on The technique is very amazing Seriously this technique is just awesome Though the impact is not much The originality is great And the Vision has to be the best of them all I mean the color the texture just great I really love this artwork this artist gave to us And I just hope that he\she makes more in the future So what do you think there are unfair

MimiChair In reply to BB529 [2016-09-03 00:17:06 +0000 UTC]

Yep huge snowball is huge haha :")

Thank you for your comment <3 I voted for fair

The impact may have been taken away a bit by the picture of this painting. In real life I feel the impact of the colors come out a bit better.

However the impact could still use some improvement in real life haha

I'm glad you like the rest though~ I'll certainly create more in the future

The technique is lovely; I liked the use of light blues and I like the use of the tree. Her sitting on the ball is quite original. However snowflakes are a bit cliche in terms of a winter theme, that's why I gave you only three stars for originality. The picture itself is also very striking; thus the 3.5 stars for impact. However, making a cute little girl sit in a tree while it's snowing, while great, is not exactly grand, thus the three stars for vision. It's cute, and very good, but it is no grand art piece. It's lovely, and and thousands of times better than I can draw, but no grand art piece.

It is a very atmospheric art piece. The style that you have used to draw this is nothing new but what was done with it is still really nice.

The feet however do look a little wonky but apart from that the drawing looks very nice, kinda like a MOE anime moment with the chibi characters

If you've ever watched RWBY chibi then you'll get what I mean.

The drawing itself looks very peaceful. The hair of the girl flows almost like water which is very cool.

The hell with physics let's have a massive snowball on a tree XD

I guess I understand what you mean with the chibi thing ;w;
I haven't seen RWBY chibi though but I can see her pose and etc has a bit of a chibi moment feel~

And yep screw physics, real physics are boring

Thank you for your small critique~

I really like the way you wrote it, it's playful and it reminds me of a verse or maybe even lyrics haha

I kinda agree on the comment on the hair color
How I do like the yellow in it, as I was going for a more blond ish color. However I just feel like I overdid it and now the hair has a green ish effect which wasn't what I was going for initially.

The sketch I'm showing here underneath is a digital colorscheme sketch. This is more like how I wanted it to end up

- vision;
wow! these colors are so pretty, the green in her hair accents the colors of the whole picture and looks absolutely wonderful. the blue and white is soft and isn't harsh on the eyes. while i admit her hair does remind me a little bit of toothpaste too, it isn't a bad effect. i adore her expression and how much detail you put into this.
- originality;
while pastel-colored season-based anime girls are never all that original, i like how you pulled this off. i don't think i've ever seen anyone pull off a background like that without making it look awkward. the yellow accents the blue quite well, and the anatomy overall is very good from what i can tell, so it helps quite a lot
- technique;
my god, your technique on this is amazing! the acrylics you used are obviously rather smooth, because none of this looks clumpy
the shading on the clothes is subtle but easy on the eyes, and it's excellently done. your color choice was wonderful here, her hair is very interestingly colored but it's not bad. in fact, her hair is rather good! the shading is smooth and makes her hair look like it's flowing.
- impact;
as i had stated previously, pastel-haired seasonal anime girls are never too original and don't leave much of an impact, but i think this image definitely would, considering her gorgeous hair and how well drawn that tree is. overall, this picture is beautiful and very fitting for the season it's based off of.

''while i admit her hair does remind me a little bit of toothpaste too, it isn't a bad effect''
Yea at least toothpaste is generally associated with a bit of a cold ish feel :')
So I guess it's fine indeed haha

Yep it's really the obvious thing to go for, especially winter as the season itself has a rather pastel feel to it (when it snows at least haha)

My others season drawings were a bit less pastel tho ;o;

Still thanks a lot for this critique/review <3

I like a lot this composition. Is cute and warming.
The yellow degrade at the background looks very good and i think has the exact amount of ink it should have.
The tree is a little light, but i think is very well done, the branches look very natural and nice! The same with the snow above them!
Sadly the snowflakes are hard to see because they're white abote clear yellow and very clear blue, but i notice the details in them, they are well done too e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
The big snowballs were unexpected xD but i think is a nice touch, correctly shaded, i think you done it very well too!
Finally the girl. LOVE the hair. The tones are amazing looks so shiny and wavy and pretty. Maybe the clothes should be a little darker to show some contrast but you draw it very pretty too!
Finally i think the pose seems very plane. She doesn't really look like she is sitting in the snow ball, the legs looks too plane withuot profundity and that's why it seema a big weird. But maybe that's because you scanned the drawing. Scanning mess up the colors and brightness too much.
I think is a very lovely character the design is super cool and she looks all comfy and innocent. Keep the hard work! and have a nice day

MimiChair In reply to addictedtopunk [2016-09-11 19:15:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you still somehow managed to notice these snowflakes :'D
But I figured the snowflakes being barely visible would be kinda fine in this setting as the background is super light ;w;. In a real life setting like this the snowflakes would also be difficult to see I guess ;o;

I completely agree on the pose! I wasn't actually planning on letting her sit on the snowball at first and therefore the kinda failed pose ;w;

The scanner did indeed kinda negatively affect the drawing, the same flaws are apparent in the real version

Thank you for taking your time to write this for me ;w;

I saw this on so I'm dropping you a comment.

I don't want to repeat what was already said in the critiques of this piece, beyond your grasp of the media shows you understand that acrylics can be used like watercolors.  I really would like to know what type of paper you used though, or if you used something like bristol board to get such a smooth gradient  and how you managed to keep your colors so soft in places but yet add darker values to areas you want to bring out.  The use of yellow is a great choice and makes the blue branches really pop and appear icy.  Same for the giant snowball.  It looks like you also underpainted or did a wash of yellow on the character's hair which is a nice touch. The only thing I would say needs to be fixed, and this is just my opinion is that it would be good to maybe add darker shades to the character's dress and stockings.  At the current level, she almost disappears against the snowball. Looking at the other characters in this series I do see a trend in how their costumes do blend in with the background and emphasie the "season" motif.  So, it is purely just an aesthetic thing on my part.  Technically, this piece is beautiful, and I hope you upload more soon!

MimiChair In reply to ThermidorResistance [2016-09-11 19:18:31 +0000 UTC]

I used pre flattened watercolor for this ;o; The paper was made for this so that's why it workes so well ^^

While the blending was partially on purpose on this themed series, I would've also liked it better with a better contrast ;w;

Thanks a lot for the comment by the way <3

Such soft colors. Unlike another comment, I'm really enjoying the saturation of the hair. This picture looks really peaceful.

Glad you like the saturation

The saturation is a bit lower in real life though (but still similar)
The contrast between the trees and the background is bigger but I just couldn't get the picture to be exactly like it is in real life :c

Toothpaste hair lol I feel like it came out over-exposed. Maybe it's your scanner or you meant it to be that way, but I think the exposure takes away some of the detail and warmth in the piece. Anyway, aside from that, she's adorable and I love how you colored the tree.

MimiChair In reply to 13-year-old [2016-09-02 23:46:22 +0000 UTC]

Yep I agree, while it's partially because of the picture  (yep this is no scan ;w the hair had a bigger contrast compared to the other parts of this piece.
In the end I was a bit scared to touch the other parts to give it the same amount of contrast like the hair does ><

It's ADORABLE!!! The pale harmony of the colors is really pretty, and the little girl is just so cute! The only thing I would mention would be her feet: they do look a tad awkward as they come from the legs, and the boots don't look very thick. But I love the color of her hair, and how the piece is mostly white, yet everything stays distinguishable, and it's all so subtle!
