i think you should work on angles. straight on is kinda dry. try to tilt it a bit. taking it from below usually gives it a really cool perspective.
don't centre things either. the palm trees are just dead on with people and building around them. i think you should go for about 2/3 courtyard, 1/3 building. it makes it more interesting and spontaneous.

Try not to just take pictures of things straight-on. Mess with angles, crouch down, etc. Also, it might help to learn the rule of thirds.
