I can't even tell you how long this took me to crochet because I stopped keeping track after a week. My parents came to visit today (and to bring me food because I'm actually very ill at the moment) and my Dad fell so completely in love with this that I think he'll be getting it for his birthday later this year. My Dad was actually my inspiration for this, since this is what a ramen shop order from him would look like... a large bowl of ramen with egg, carrot flowers, pink and white fish cake, mushrooms, green onion and snow peas, shrimp tempura, maki sushi with various fillings and sticks of grilled teriyaki beef. Dad's a big eater.As with the majority of my crochet, these were created not from a pattern, but as I was sitting with hook and yarn in hand, thus there are no patterns available.

I know you've mentioned many times that you don't use a pattern, but then how do you make sure they all look somewhat the same? Or do you kind of jot something down, that only makes sense to you?

Don't worry, sadly it happens a lot to me T_T and your welcome ^.^ you are a really creative person, it would take me 132435423 years plus one day to do all of that, and even then they wont look as awesome as yours ^.^

Sorry it's taken me forever to reply to you. 2008 was a really bad year for me and I wasn't able to be on dA as much as I'd hoped. Hopefully 2009 will be a better year for all. I would be honored to be one of your friends. I'm going to try to get back into making my crafts again, so I should start posting some new things soon! Thanks!

oooooo, yum! shrimp tempura is good, not to mention squid tempura is good as well (sounds icky but tastes great!)
can I ask you a question??? what are those swirly disks in the ramen??? Sorry if I sound like a complete n00b, Im not very knowlegable of japanese foods...I eat more chinese than I do japanese.

You just kill me every time I see a new one of these, so creative!!! I'm doing good just to make a potholder now days, it's been so long since I worked with yarn. I think I made some vegetables as a kid though. lol Just looking at this makes me hungry!

I've got a vegetable collection coming up later in the year (probably sometime around Thanksgiving)! I really enjoyed making this set because I could showcase some of my Japanese ceramic collection with my creations! I've been collecting ceramic and porcelain ware from Japan for many years and my crafts are the perfect way to show some of these pieces off, since a few of them are too fragile to be used as actual food dishes anymore.

I had a Aunt, she was my great-great Aunt in fact, that did a lot of crocheting. Though she ALWAYS needed a pattern. She only taught my cousin how to crochet but she is shallow a penny wouldn't even fit in her water so she probably forgot. My aunt never took the time to teach me so I never learned but you are something else. You sit there and do it without a pattern. I am impressed! This are also fantastic and I am getting hungry again.

My family and friends laugh at most of my food crochet because I actually use a whole bunch of cookbooks as reference! That way I know what the food is really supposed to look like, so I try to match it when I'm doing my crochet!

This one took a long time for me to make because I kept trying to figure out what would look good as part of this set. You'll have to fight my Dad for this one because he fell so in love with it, I thought he was going to take it home with him and I wouldn't be able to enter it in the contest I made it for! I'm planning on giving it to him for his birthday in December.
