All of the practice I'm getting while posting things to DA is really helping me to improve my artistic and crochet skills as far as making things more and more realistic. And I can have fun at the same time! How cool is that?! I think there is about a 2 year difference between my first set of sushi and my second set... and it shows.

Thanks! Suddenly my numbers are going up really quickly! It's scary but kinda fun. I have a lot more comments to respond to every day, but I've been talking to people from all over the world, so it's cool. I love the chopsticks, too. They're real chopsticks, but I use them for my hair 'cause I thought they were to pretty to use for eating with. It was the first time I'd ever seen chopsticks in a color other than brown or black.

Its awesome to talk to people from so many other places I bet its interesting
and very lovely chopsticks I wouldn't want to ruin them by eating with them either

The funniest part about talking to everyone is they all have questions about Hawaii. Everyone has ideas about what Hawaii is like, so they ask me all of these questions to see if they're right. It's beautiful but very expensive to live here. The End.

This year was the first time I was able to go to a different island in nearly 5 years. It's even expensive going from island to island here, though the prices are going down right now because they're trying to start a ferry system between the islands, so that we don't always have to depend on airplanes.

Nah, they rip us off just as much as they do everyone else. I'm sure there aren't too many other places in the world where a large box of Corn Flakes costs $7 and a gallon of milk is $5. A loaf of bread is about $5. It's no wonder so many people here have to work more than one job. Otherwise you couldn't afford to eat, much less live in a house and wear clothes!

It is scary. That's why we really have to decide whether we want to live here or not. Most of the friends I went to high school with moved away and never came back because they could find better paying jobs in places that didn't cost as much, so they could afford better things than I can. I love it here, though, even though it's really tough, and I really didn't want to leave my Mom and Dad. So, I just deal with the prices and stuff.

Yeah well if you have a steady job things shouldn't be so stressful but god every thing is still really expensive! I wouldn't want to leave my family either well on some days I do lol but mostly I'm happy having them all close by. O btw I heard Hawaii has trillions of cockroachs is that true???

Cockroaches, ants, termites and geckos (lizards). They're everywhere. But, we don't have snakes!

minami63 In reply to Im-so-C-O-L-D [2007-10-13 07:24:13 +0000 UTC]
Fortunately for us, no snakes can ever survive the flight here. Sometimes they'll hide in the wheel wells of airplanes, but they freeze to death on the flight. There are lots and lots of brown tree snakes in Guam, but luckily Guam is a good distance from Hawaii and even though we have flights back and forth all the time, the snakes have never made it. Iguanas are illegal out here, which is too bad because I would love to have one! I think they're cool!

Oh, I'm so jealous! I'm not sure why iguanas are illegal out here. I think it has something to do with us having so many rare and endangered birds that iguanas might want to snack on.

Every once in a while you hear about Animal Control finding one somewhere because people try to sneak them into the state, but then they either run away or they get too big or expensive to raise and the people just let them go. They found one a couple of miles from my house in May. I wish I could have seen it! I heard it was pretty big.
