Description I had hoped to have this ready earlier this week, but picking up my crochet hooks after a nearly one year hiatus proved to be more challenging than I anticipated. I still need to crochet a few more chocolates to fill the box, but I really wanted to let everyone know that I'm still around and trying to become more active here on dA again!

The pattern for the heart-shaped candy box used to be online several years ago, but when I searched for it tonight, I couldn't find it. I'll keep looking and if I do find it, I'll post the link. I actually made the matching box top that went with this, but when all of your craft projects and supplies are scattered around your living room floor, there are bound to be a few problems. The lid for this box was, unfortunately, the victim of a bizarre vacuuming accident that left it very mangled and unrecognizable. I may try to duplicate it, if I can find the pattern again... otherwise it will have to stay like this. I hope I find the pattern for the cover because right now the box looks unfinished, to me.

There are no patterns for the candies, they're are just random little shapes... circles, squares, domes that I whipped up in various shades of DMC Craft Thread and Embroidery Floss.

Hi sweetie! Thanks so much! It's good to be back, though I'm just kinda racing in and back out again, since I'm still pretty busy with work and stuff. I've got some other projects in the works, so you'll definitely be seeing more from me this year than last year!

I can't believe it - you crocheted the box too!
Yes, this does seem like it would be a challenge to create (all the individual chocolate pieces etc), if you've become "rusty", but to me, it's a marvelous and comfortable creation at your best!

Hee.. Yup, the whole thing is crocheted... though I still have to finish it (good thing it went to Mom so that I can keep working on it even though it's long after Valentine's Day already)! The main problem I'm having is the fact that I'm so out of practice that it's taking me an eternity just to finish each piece. I would have been done with this entire project ages ago if I were still in practice, but just getting used to holding the crochet hooks again has been strange. I need to build up my calluses again so that holding the hook for an extended period of time doesn't hurt. Thank you so much for your encouraging words, though. It means the world to me that my work still passes my "friend" test even if I think it needs improvement.

I'm ready to post your girl any day now so let me know when you receive her so that I can share her picture with the rest of the world, okay?! I'm really hoping your box gets there soon because I'd really like to post the picture here for Girl's Day on March 3rd, but if the box doesn't arrive... well, I'll just have to wait patiently like everyone else. Your girl is quite a bit different from Mom's girl, mainly because I'd forgotten how Mom's girl looked and instead of looking here for her picture or going to Mom's to look at the actual doll, I started crocheting your kokeshi right off the top of my head. Your girl is larger (about three inches taller than Mom's) and her kimono and obi are completely different. I'm really happy with her (she actually resembles a friend of mine from the side which added to my enjoyment of creating her) so I hope you like her in spite of the differences.

Boy, it's fun to be back... I've really missed this!

But this shows you still have determination and passion for crocheting (which I couldn't deny anyway!). All the hard work really has paid off. Actually, seeing this Valentine's chocolate box feels like you haven't been on hiatus at all! You still realise the standard that is already placed - and the kind of results which make-up your gallery.

Really? The kokeshi you made is based on a real person, eh? No, I don't mind about any differences at all - the doll is a fabulous craft! I might pin the arms down, perhaps, to make it look like she's holding her hands together. (?)

Glad you're back as a Deviant. I love the kokeshi doll and all your crochets!

Thanks so much! I've been hearing that many of us (at least from my friend's list) were away last year and are finally starting to trickle back. It's been strange, trying to get used to crocheting again after having done it constantly for nearly 30 years! Hand cramps abound! And, of course, I choose to start with a project that not only has many, many components, but also requires me to crochet with thread, as opposed to yarn, which would probably have been much easier to get used to! Masochistic much?

Hello, my friend! Thanks so much! Your comments always make my day! (So good for my ego!) Luckily, this was made for my Mom, who lives near to me, so I'm actually still working on it. I have a few more chocolates to make and I'm also making a replacement for the original cover, which I somehow managed to get caught in my vacuum cleaner one day and completely destroyed! I'll post another picture when I've finally gotten everything the way I think it should look!

Hi, hon! I know, it's been almost a year since the last time I put anything on dA! 2008 was a tough year for me, so I wasn't able to do any crafts and now I'm kinda rusty. I've been working on a few projects, to try to get used to crocheting again. It's nice to be back, even for a little while because I really missed my friends on here!

Aww, thank you! I've got lots more ideas (I never seem to run out of those, actually), I just need to get used to crocheting again. It took me a lot longer than it should have to make this candy box! I'm glad it's making people happy, though. Makes all the time I took, worth it!

Yes... I'm alive! Still busier than all heck, but I've made some changes this year that should allow me to spend more time on my crafts and here on dA.
