in my younger years, rolling girl used to be a song to attach myself to-- i felt that despair, that uselessness, and it resonated with me. i'm sure just about everyone had drawn themself as the titular rolling girl, self inserts and all. but it's only in my recent years of mental health recovery that ive begun to see it differently, as a song about hope and determination. it isn't about the mistakes, it's about getting back up and finding more reasons to keep going despite them.

but more than anything else, it was wowaka's song. a song from his heart that he shared and touched others. i hope he knows just how much he and his works mean to us, and will for several decades to come
