Description So far in this series of images, this one is my favorite. I'm trying my best to top it, though.

I still haven't seen everywhere inside of this building. It's huge!

It took Lemmy-koopaling   months (more than three, I believe) to get this build to where it appears in this image. He's done a stellar job, and I applaud him for it. Good work Lemmy!

This is the third image in a series I am doing of this build. The previous images and the ones posted after this one can be found below,

I contacted MinecraftArchitect90 to see if he could write me a historical summery of this build. Read below for the history of this build,

Intended to be the tallest building in the world, & the greatest monument to Soviet Communism, the Palace of The Soviets was a planned skyscraper that would dwarf all other buildings around it, serving as the administrative heart of the Soviet Union. Should it have been built, it would have been almost 25% taller than the Empire State Building in New York but with a more audacious design.

In 1931, Soviet Premier Iosef Stalin announced a competition for a new congress hall that would serve as a new center of government & as a victory monument to the USSR's socialist ideals. Out of 160 potential candidates to the prestigious undertaking, a design by Russian-born architect Boris Iofan was chosen. This was to be a six-terraced, neo-classical inspired tower with an 80-foot statue of Vladimir Lenin with his right hand outstretched as the crowning centerpiece. Adorning the structure were many decorative statues of various communist figures. of It would have consisted of a massive reception hall leading to a main auditory hall, restaurants, & possibly a new mausoleum for the body of Vladimir Lenin to rest in.

Before construction commenced, on the site where the new tower would stand, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, standing since 1817, was completely demolished & the site was cleared in 1935. However construction of the new tower did not commence until 1939. With the new foundations set, workers began laying the steel frames that would provide support to the structure.

The tower's fate would be sealed two years later when Germany launched Operation Barbarossa in June 1941, the invasion of the Soviet Union, intent on conquest. This event caught the Soviets off-guard & within four months were pushed back to the outskirts of Moscow. The steel frames used to support the lower levels of the palace were reused as barriers & fortifications, & construction stopped. Eventually, the USSR would triumph in their struggle, but work on the palace never resumed. The foundations dug for the tower eventually found use as an open-air swimming pool, which became the largest of it's kind in the world.

The Palace of The Soviets' legacy is undeniable: a great trophy to a political ideology only to suffer a cruel twist of fate. It's interest extended far beyond the Soviet Union even in the 1930's & continues to fascinate us to this day.

This building has an interesting history. Thank you MinecraftArchitect90 for your help!

I hope you all have enjoyed this image. Be sure to check back for more images of this build! (On their way!)

My work is downloadable! I do not wish to keep Minecraft to myself; I want to share it as much as I can.

However, should you make any of, or anything from any of my images public, you must credit my work and the work of the builders (if there were any) by linking to the image's page or my deviantART page from wherever you make our work public.
Thank you!

Wow, this is absolutely beautiful. This view is really a breathtaking one. I love how you captured the clouds above the building so perfectly, it makes the building look like it reaches far beyond the clouds and really gives you a sense of how big it is. I also love the lighting, and the blur of glass is a really nice touch. It really draws the attention to the building. This has to be one of your best views yet of this build and the more pictures you take of it, the more I love it. I look forward to the next picture of the build and all its majesty. Keep up the good work, Declan. :3

Wow!
I had no idea that it could look this good. xD

But, there's one thing that makes a question mark above my head...
...Where's the Mine-Clan TexturePack that was designed for the palace...?~
It,a still looking grand, don't get me wrong, Declan!
You did a nice job documenting my build.

I have several issues with the texture pack. If I can ever get it working, I will surely use it.

Thanks!

Ah, I see there's a unique texture pack in use here.
I guess the 'Default' look for Minecraft doesn't always make the cut for everyone.

Don't know the name of the one used in this particular deviation,
but I can tell it's high-definition (128x128 pixels or maybe even 256x256 pixels).
Painterly is within the default 16x16 pixels.

Default isn't always enough, for some people. I personally prefer having more detail to my textures.

I see.  I personally like Default, but the Painterly Pack is really nice too.

Yeah, PP is an amazing and yet simple texture pack.
And the cool thing is, that you can design your own!
