this is just brilliant! How do you get the shades so so dark? I use the same brand as you but mine always turns out lighter than what I desire, and then I have to use charcoal to get that deep dark value that I want!

Thank you very much Nicole !Β Β I use "soft" pencil (8B or 9B) and "colored" background and darkest parts of the image several times (paper must be of good quality), until I get maximum black. Of course, it takes time and a little patience.Β Β

aha! Thanks so much, I will try using darker pencils - I only use grades till 6B, and decent but not excellent paper.
