Description This is a project I did in first semester, first year of illustration.

The project was to reproduce an image of an animal using old school hatching (single lines opposed to cross hatching that over lay)with pen nibs dipped in a bottle of Higgin's ink, pointillism with microns (thank goodness) and a tad of dry brush.

Ya know what this is the project that will drive anyone insane if you are new to pen nibs. I DID have to redo the project because I spilt the bottle of ink on the drawing luckily I only did a few of the top head feathers. To prevent splotching from happening I had to hatch on a scrap to get down to half a bead of ink in my nib, pointillism isn't as scary as hatching old school and dry brush is the same.

I ended up doing my first time an all-nighter on this project refining the details, and it was scary, to refine it you can scratch a bit a way with an x-acto knife and I almost stabbed my hand twice. No coffee was involved that night just pure will power.
