Magnificent work.Β
This makes me think of the various trips to either the barpit out deep in Brunswick, Georgia or the Cumberland Falls in Kentucky.Β Packing a good deal of food and sitting out for the day, sometimes the evening.Β

When I was little we used to go out to dams on the dirt bikes and catch yabbies. It was kinda like this but more beer, waaay less grass and more flies. Overall way less green..... There was a body of water though! Ok so maybe it's not identical, but it was a lot of fun.

For all of my high adventures back as a kid ... exploring the old burned out house at the end of East Beach, the old bomb shelter run by Old Man Ferguson (or something like that), spending the night on a shrimp boat before going out on it for a day's work, and even exploring the ruins out at Cannon's Point where Uncle Buck and the rest of the hunters went to take down wild boar ... alcohol was NEVER a factor, unlike with my Big Sister's even crazier adventures of being a biker chick (her words) and hell on wheels. Β One of the guys used to say about her was it was like watching Wolverine and the Hulk wrapped up in a tight package like a spinach-wrapped Playboy bunny with the crazy fights like something out of Popeye. Β However, Mom would smell my breath when I got home EVERYTIME ...
The grass is greener and the scene is much more idyllic, but the feeling is the same and about the way I remember it. Β There were a few times when we would actually play Capture the FlagΒ or Last Man Standing (a version of tag though with everyone coming after me as the last one standing!) Β Since I was the cook, I often ran the grill or the campfire and we always ate pretty good. Β
