Oh wow, now that's a beautiful sword. I'm not too familiar with the different types of swords, but I think this blade is a rapier. Very lovely.

In answer to what type of sword, it's a fantasy sword, so I doubt it matches any historical 'type'. However, it also seems pretty typical of a bastard sword or a hand-and-a-half sword; the grip looks too short for two hands comfortably, and the blade short enough to wield one-handed, but the hilt is large enough, just, to use a second hand for extra power, when needed.
It's gorgeous! The lines are beautiful, the hilt is for the most part, lovely, the ornamentation is exquisite, and the crossguard! I love the crossguard!
There are a couple things I don't like here; and I'm saying this under the assumption that this is a weapon meant to hurt people with; if it's meant to be purely ornamental, you can ignore this. All of this is from a long study at the hobbyist level of swords from many periods and places.
First, the thingy near the tip. A blade should be clean lines, usually. Ornamentation on the blade is, at best, useless in a fight. At worst, it can be lethally malfunctional.
Second, and this is a much bigger blob of ickiness - that bulge with the red stone above the hilt, by the crossguard. I don't like it for multiple reasons.
One, I just don't like it. It looks funny to me.
Two, it moves the grip of the top hand further from the balance of the sword. (Which is almost always exactly at, or just above, the crossguard, for most one-handed or hand-and-a-half swords, and many longswords as well.) The closer the top hand is to the center of balance, the easier it is to pivot the blade around that center. You simply need more strength to swing as hard if you move your hands further from that pivot. (Think of a stuck faucet handle - you might get it turned spinning it around the middle, but you'll never unstick it by pulling or pushing only one half of the handle.)
Three. Preventing the top hand from moving further op also puts your hands closer together. The sword is a lever, remember - the top hand is the fulcrum, and the bottom hand is the application of force. When you apply force further from the fulcrum, you use less strength to lift the same weight. By keeping the hands close together when you have so much hilt to spare, you're wasting free sword-swinging power on ornamentation.
Sorry I'm so critical; as I said, if it's purely ornamental, you can ignore all that. I really do love the design of this -- the pommel and the crossguards are both gorgeous! I also love the tassel and the beaded thingy, the ornamentation attached to it. This really is beautiful, and it gets a favorite from me.
