Link, (depicted here from "The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past) a descendant of legendary heroes, is called upon in a dream. Zelda, Princess of Hyrule and descendant of the sages, has called out from the darkness of her cell. Her captor wishes to sacrifice her so he my gain access to the Triforce, an ancient treasure said to grant your hearts inner most desire. Link bravely sneaks into the castle and into the dungeon to rescue Zelda before that can happen.

Of course she gets captured again anyway, but hey, at least he tried.
