While drawing this character I was taking my inspiration from a portrait of dying Constance by I.Kuskov. He is a marvellous painter but his Constance is stiff and paralyzed with terror and agony. I wanted my Cathy to be vulnerable, alive and delirious in the despair of her last days so I left only the gesture of Constance's right hand and the pose of her head.
