I have to say that I like how you tied this one with real life in a fictional paralel, I did enjoy reading it and how you wove in all the supernatural inhabitants to again make the town more real.
As for the questions
1) Hmm I think her tone is more opinionated than factual but she does give us examples to justify her words, as a small town journalist (I imagine that to be the case) she is probably also voicing the opinion of a percentage of her fellow citizens which I think is what people want from small town newspapers? If that even answered the question at all
2) I don't know, I haven't had much experience with such things!

Thank you again for the the lovely comments.
I wanted to give a little distance between real world events and the "narrative" of the world of Hollow Grove so I'm glad you thought this story was successful from that perspective. Lately I've trying to come up with stories outside the realm of real world events which have proven quite the challenge. But the news is often a great (and sometimes very frustrating in light of recent events) source of inspiration.
I should perhaps give up the pretense of establishing Hollow Weekly (I actually might rename it) as a standard newspaper. I've been investing so much time in crafting the personalities of each of the writers that trying to put them in the standard unbiased journalistic voice is really difficult. If not coming off as untrue to the characters they're becoming. Not that I was very good at it to begin with but...

I really liked how each factor of the "real world" campaign receives a unique and creative counterpart in the Hollow Grove campaign. The issues and groups were really well thought out, rather than just seeming like an election-themed game of Mad Libs. It was like watching the election again but through a different and imaginative lens.
Overall it was a fun and clever read

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback.
I'm glad that you thought that the topics discussed in this piece were really thought out. I was actually afraid that things might come off a bit one-dimensional or lack the depth that I really wanted to imbue to the piece. I found writing this piece and Devlin's Advocate helped me work out a few feelings I was having about current events. Besides that, it was fun putting my own spin on it.
