Description

The written word--truly written, truly inked, truly scribbled. The true master of my thoughts in their truest most imperfect form. The source of midnight maladies that beckon me from my restless rest to give voice to the echo chamber.

The analog. The notebook. The pen.

And as I write these thoughts with fingers that feel and ink that inks, I never question why they are simpler to pen than to type. Tis the power of the analog. The conditioning of the brain to see perfection in the imperfection of hastily written lines and dots. To never wonder their logic, never fully question their fluidity. They just are and forever they will be. No back space can cause their undoing or harsh line can destroy what once was.

The analog. Beauty hidden within an ugly sketch.

All Hail the Analog.

Ok, I'm bookmarking this so that whenever I think I've written something good, I can go back, re-read this and I'll be humbled again and reminded of what good writing really looks like. Well done.

Oh, thank you. Β

I'm actually quite humbled by your response. It really makes me happy to hear you enjoyed it so much.

I'm the same. I tend to prefer writing things down on paper over typing it up.

Glad to hear it!

There's just so much less pressure to writing when analoging wherein every flaw you perceive in typing sticks out almost immediately. At least in my experience.

I know! And the bright white of the document hurts my eyes far more than the white of a notebook's pages.

I recently got back to analogue , I got myself a nice pen and a nice un-lined notebook to write in and you're right, it is quite joyous not to have to worry about unsaved things or ugly underlines - or be distracted by the internet...however I'm still getting back to learning to write that way - I'm hoping I can and I'm hoping it helps.

I enjoyed the uplifting tone of this and how it harks back to a simpler time when the notebook was a more intimate form of writing in which it was just you and your words, and the joy of writing them down without worry about edits and all that stuff which gets in the way of the joy.
You know, it would have been great if you uploaded this sub AS the original handwritten image!

That's awesome! I'm all for shopping for office supplies. It's very exciting and it makes you feel like you're getting stuff done. May your mighty pen and paper serve you well in your artistic endeavors.Β

A part of me wanted to upload the image in some form but I didn't want to put any reader through the horror of reading through my handwriting. When I'm writing for the long haul, my writing can become quite illegible where my a's, o's, and u's become indistinguishable from one another and the end of words peter out into lines of oblivion. Everyone who has sat down to read my handwritten work has brought this to my attention (some more impolitely than others).Β

The pen. Love the sentiment, will always pay tribute... even if I only write on a screen. XD

Agreed.

It's such a romantic writing instrument though it tends to leave ink stains and make your fingers cramp after extended use. But that's just beautiful pain for the sake of art.
