There seems to be this trend to describe DeviantArt as the "Facebook of art." That's all fine and dandy when you are talking to someone who has no idea what this site is.

BUT this site is NOT Facebook by any means. We are an art community first and foremost. Many people don't know that some of the features on Facebook happened on DA first. The individual profiles, commenting, and journals were here long before Facebook was even an idea.

"But what about all these new features and the ones we are going to get? Certainly DA is aiming to be Facebook with art, right?"

Again, no. Any features that this site has or plan to get in the future has nothing to do with Facebook, but to supply the demand of better internet. Our site, no matter how great it is, cannot stay the way it is forever. The core features, I'm sure, will always be around, but the site will always be updating to keep up with the new times.
