No matter what your beef is with an artwork submitted here on DA or anywhere else. It's art. I'm tired of certain arguments on what is "artistic" and what is not. Art doesn't have to have taste. Well, at least not in everyone's eyes. As long as the "artist" feels their work is a thing of beauty, then dang it, it's art! And I know that the "PoRn Is NoT ArT!" flamers are ready to start...well...flaming, so I will say this: YES, I am defending porn! I really could not care less about nudity,"artistic" or not, it doesn't bother me. What DOES bother me is the endless argument people have over this! My GOD, people! So here is the end to the argument. It's art, get over it.

For those that think stamps are not art, go here--> [link]

Feel free to use here on DA, but please fave if you do!

"As long as the "artist" feels their work is a thing of beauty, then dang it, it's art!" EXACTLY the reason why I had my two Oc's return!

That is a ridiculously long, arbitrary and vapid definition of art. The term, because of its near omni-inclusion, has pretty much lost all meaning. With it you could argue that everything, including 'stolen' artwork so long as some workmanship is included in reproducing it, is art. If everything is art, then art is pretty boring.

"If everything is art, then art is pretty boring."
Wow. I couldn't disagree more. I'd take everyday beauty over some artsy-fartsy piece of nonsense in a museum. Art CAN be found anywhere. Thinking that way makes life a lot more fun.

If everyday beauty is art, then art is just everyday. Boring. When every single thing that you enjoy is covered over such the huge umbrella term of 'art,' then art no longer has any significance. It's sort of like saying 'everyone is special,' which is the same as saying nobody is.

But I don't think everyday life is boring. I think everyday life and human nuances and all that crap is fascinating. But that's clearly just my opinion, and you can feel free to disagree. We obviously have very different core opinions on life here, and that's not something a dA comment argument can settle. Let's just agree to disagree

I think everyday life is everyday. There are things in my everyday life which aren't boring. But something that happens every day...yeah, not particularly special. What's special is defined by its rarity.

So that's my opinion.

oh... that makes sense. For me, I don't give a crap about "special"-ness, so that's probably it. I will not deny that the everyday is not special; it isn't. But I like it all the same.
Anyway, that's it.

Well, it had to be done.
I guess so, but there are a lot of works that are copied and pasted with no workmanship at all. But if the artwork has proper citation, and is a reproduction, then yes I would consider it art. otherwise, no, since there was no work involved.
