Artists opinion about own style is fine, unless that person has to be so proud of it 'cause it's so damn "unique"/"original"/whatever, and especially if artist isn't so popular because of it. (Popularity doesn't equal quality, don't get me wrong.)
No one draws exactly with the same style as other, so that makes every art somehow unique.
Also, of course every artist gets influenced by something and/or they have a favorite artist/idol/whoever, who has some kind of effect on them. That is just pure stupidity to not admit it, especially if it's more obvious than Sherlock's conclusions - your art speaks about it for yourself anyway.
