Description "Harry Potter. The boy who lived."

Drawing of Daniel Radcliffe, January 2011.

Drawn on Bristol Board 220gsm
4H, 2H, H, F Staedtler pencils & 0.5 0.3 Mechanical Pencils
Approximately 8-10 hours although I keep forgetting to keep count.

Really enjoyed the first part of the Deathly Hallows and I'm eagerly anticipating the second part. Can't wait. This is a screen-cap from the trailer in one of my favourite scenes from the book.

The scanner hasn't done it much justice unfortunately.

It's on A3 Paper but is likely to be approximately 14"x6"

This is amazing. I agree with a comment above, he does look badass. I'm making a slide-show of Deathly Hallows pictures to the soundtrack from the movie - would it be okay if I added this in? I promise I'll credit!

ah well - i'd have loved to see that - i basically scan in at a high DPI and then adjust brightness/contrast as needed (which doesn't solve EVERYTHING but...it helps)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissGeorgeSpiggott In reply to DragonPress [2011-03-15 10:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that's pretty much what I do. I think I need a new scanner but unfortunately I don't have any money for new scanners. As the prophet Mick Jagger once sang; you can't always get what you want.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonPress In reply to MissGeorgeSpiggott [2011-03-15 16:42:37 +0000 UTC]

hehe, well, gave up on that myself. i had a bunch of lightly penciled in portraits and my scanner (and lid30 canoscan which serves me well elsewise) wasn't cutting it. so i went to a copy place. their scanners weren't much better. these people are supposed to have professional grade equipment, so i just figured my shades were too subtle for ANY scanner to pick up.

i have since then improved, and managed to work out a style that comes through mostly intact and realized that some of the issues i have is from the LIGHT of the scanner reflecting OFF those pencil shades. i think some of the problems we're having is just completely unavoidable

It's okay, I always lose track of time while I'm drawing Your style is awsome! I like the levels of shadows and how the highlights are smooth. Harry just happens to look a bit older, maybe cause of the beard?
