Description I think each of my photos work somewhat like a personal journal. When I look at them I remember things that happened on that particular day and they work as descriptions of such. This one particularly reminds me of the near-death experience this Thanksgiving while driving and our gas pedal got stuck. We couldn't stop the car until I went under the dashboard and literally pulled/released it. Anyway, it was a scary experience and this photo reminds me of what happened that very day and also serves as a reminder for being thankful just to be alive.

FYI: Tired of people cropping my name off and using my images outside of DA without my permission.. so I am going overkill with watermarking, sorry.

Very nice

I love the tones in it and the angle.

I like how you put your copyright thing in there. It's not overly noticeable, but it's definitely there. I understand the need for it, and you didn't compromise the picture for that...

I think there's always a story behind many of my pictures. That's why I love photography. They seem to capture a moment and let the viewer create their own moment in their imaginations.

First, great shot! I love the colors, are they the original ones? You're so lucky to get it w/o any cars...it looks great! And I like the placement of your name, it works!

I was trying to figure out how you might of taken this....did you take it looking out the back of the car?

The original colors were tan because of the lighting in the tunnel. I just thought it looked much more neat in the blue-ish hue (I highly doubt any tunnel in the states has blue lighting or blue walls). We were driving at about 3am so there were cars but very few. There was originally a truck in front of us but as you can see in the distance (via the slight red break lights) he had just turned the corner at that very moment which left me with a short time frame to take this photo. The placement of my name was intentional simply because I've found more and more people using my photos and claiming to be theirs or not giving credit where it's deserved. I have yet to make a logo for myself that I am satisfied with and not wanting my signature to stand out too much I decided to put my name slanted, slightly less visible but still there.

Since I was the passenger in the car I stuck my head and my camera out the window to take this while we were driving. It's interesting that you think the photo was taken looking out the back of the car especially since it's vice versa, looking toward the front of the car.

Well, you did an excellent job on the colors, then!!
About which way you were facing when you took it--I thought you were looking towards the back of the car because the camera point seems so far to the left of the line on the road...and I was sure that you probably didn't ask the driver to drive in the middle of the road so you could take this. Hmm...well, I doesn't really matter, I guess...it's just how my brain works, always trying to figure things out.

It's a wonderful picture.

I like the feel of the photo a lot. It has a more modern feel, and the variations of blue make this really pop out at you. The only suggestion I would have is to put your signature more towards the bottom or have it more like a watermark so it's not so distracting from the actual image.

missjserenity In reply to breaking-reality [2004-11-28 03:40:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your input and suggestion. I originally did that but because of the recent discoveries of more and more people actually claiming many of my photos as theirs and copying and pasting them onto their websites without my permission or without giving credit where it's due, I had hoped that putting my name on it will deter this type of action. I have yet to make myself a logo that I'm satisified with so I tried to integrate my name without it having to take up too much of the photo but wasn't sure what else to do otherwise. Do you have a better suggestion for watermarking? Usually when I put it at the bottom people just crop it off and steal the image.

breaking-reality In reply to missjserenity [2004-11-28 03:45:10 +0000 UTC]

True, putting it on the bottom does make it easier for people to just crop out.

I would check out ~watermarks . They have one or two tutorials on how to make them, and how to blend them into your work so they don't stand out so much.
