I hope you've all heard the news on SOPA! If you haven't, go here .
Would you like to not only black out your journal and avoid the internet from 8 am to 8 pm (EST) on January 18th, but black out your page? Here's how:
Premium Members
Do you know how to code custom widgets? If not, it's easy. Here's a code to give your widgets black backgrounds:
To really black out your page for the day, remove all widgets from your page* except 2 custom widgets, one on each side, that can have all black.
*You might want to copy and paste the text of each widget into a Word document or something so you can get your regular widgets back tomorrow. Do not copy and paste the widget coding into Sta.sh Writer. I recommend putting your text in a non-internet location so that it doesn't apply any of the HTML or CSS to itself.
Additional Stuff for Premium Members
will add length to your widget. I recommend putting it in many times. If the background ends up being too short, just make its width larger.
Insert This Picture
You can adjust the width by changing the width="400" part. The picture is shown here at 200 pixels wide.

Insert an all-black picture
There is no known way to make your text white in a widget. If you wish to have white text there, I recommend writing a journal like this one. (White text is achieved by typing color:#FFFFFF ; where it asks for color. This is usually at the beginning of a skin. I would not recommend attempting this if you don't know basic CSS.)
Otherwise, you can create an image with a black background and your desired text in white. Then host the image on Photobucket and type
or something along those lines. If you wish to have me display your image URL for other peoples' use, then I'll put it up here.

My guess is that they'll be able to hack around it. It says here that it wouldn't be too hard. Just the same, they'd be pretty upset, and they might advertise their hacking abilities to use phishing ("Click this button to go to YouTube and download a virus") and/or lash out at the government somehow.
Whatever would happen, it would not be pretty...

Oh, they always have been...
Of course, here are a few important things they'll be considering in addition to the usual legal stuff:
1) Obama opposes the bills.
2) If a lot of people are opposing SOPA and PIPA, then a lot of voters must be opposing SOPA and PIPA... and every senator and representative wants to be re-elected. Voters like their YouTube.
Hopefully these points, along with all the other arguments, will be enough to kill SOPA and PIPA.
