Oh mah gosh! That's really, REALLY good Riv! I'mma be honest, at first I thought that was Charla's Hatchling Fire (wait, would that be a proper noun?) from way back when because of the image's round shape, but then I read the description and immediately recognized the campfire. I stoopid sometimes, lol. It's really good though! And cute! But that's 'cuz Charla is cute by default. Yay adorable dragon child!

Ughh. Apparently I lost the chapter that I had started because my hard drive died and had to replace it. :C

Yeah I thought this was an abstract picture. I would never have realized it was a campfire. XD I like it though, her scales are pwetty.Β Β And the firelight (HUR) makes the texture differences in scale, plate, horns, etc look cool.Β

As always, an awesome piece! Pretty much all of my art winds up being lineless eventually for some reason :/

You know, Charla has the potential of growing into a beautiful dragoness.

Wow! This looks excellent Riv.Β
Charla is so adorable in this pose.Β I'm glad you made the picture a circle, it's perfect with it framed this way. I'd love to see more lineless art, your style and detail comes out even more beautifully this way.Β The fire looks quite good actually, considering it's a top down view. Awesome job.Β Β

But it helps so much XD Like, look what happened with the LOC comp, the dialogue we had when we looked at every step helped create such a gorgeous piece. It works like that with my best work to, I'll literally show every step to the forum and ask for critiques/advise. Helps so much, and I feel like it's the most valuable compliment I can get, when someone puts effort into making it better.

For you, maybe. Everyone's different. I don't think it helps me that much. I don't think the LOC pic would have turned out much worse if I hadn't showed you the occasional progress shot. I just would have missed some of the details you wanted. :/ I improve best through observation and practice, not being told what I've done wrong. I hate that every time I want to show something I've created, I have to expect to be told that something could be better. It's demoralizing.Β

Ah, that's the difference I guess. I see it as a promise that you can keep getting better, and people believe you can

Also... To try to explain my weird brain. I understand why some people want nothing more than to keep getting better. You enjoy the constant pursuit of betterment. But I don't think that way. I just want to be good as I am now. I want people to enjoy what I can do now. In the future, when I have improved and I can see that I've gotten better, I can look back and be proud of that. But to me, focusing on the pursuit of betterment isn't fun. It's exhausting and demoralizing, because it's an endless pursuit.
As long as I keep drawing and pushing the boundaries and doing things I'm not used to, I'll keep getting better. But I don't want to focus on the act of doing that. I want to focus on where I am now. Which is perhaps why criticism is more bitter than sweet to me, because it pulls my focus back into that endless pursuit and reminds me that I'm never 'good enough.'

Another drawing so EARLY?Β
I didn't think it was possible. XD
I have no idea how campfires work, I thought it was a kind of crackling spark at first. X3Β
Though nice lineless work, especially by the front where she's facing the fire.Β
Anyway have a lovely day or night. ^^Β
