Description Growing up, especially when I was about 6 or 7 the lion king was probably my favorite movie ever, heck, my mom even had to temporarily ban the movie from our household because I wouldn't stop trying to draw in the movie's style and made non-stop crafts including the characters. Haven't watched it for years until I saw the ads for the new movie so I ended up watching the old original again and made some fan characters because honestly younger me would've have millions of them if I even knew was fan characters where back then.

(From left to right) Kidogo, Matakwa, and Korongo all three are siblings with Matakwa and Korongo being twins while Kidago is a year and a half younger.

The two young males were driven from the pride after Korongo challenged their father for the throne and Matakwa came to his brother's aid. Kidogo followed them into exile without her mother's knowledge and honestly, the brothers are too scared to go back and return her as their father and the pride beat them pretty badly in the fight that got them banished.

Kidogo is a year old a scrappy young cub she enjoys being on her own and dislikes restrictions. She has no sense of grandeur about herself though she knows she was a runt that's she's still a cub how strong she is and what she's capable of. She appreciates good leadership despite preferring to take charge but struggles with the concept not everyone can read her mind. She dislikes being both under and overestimated. She's a skilled fighter but doesn't quite have what it takes to be a hunter. She has a good relationship with Matakwa and Korongo unlike the rest of her siblings as the two they are sure to include her on their adventures and once saved her from a leopard when she wandered off as a tiny cub. She's playful and good-natured around her bothers but acts very serious and on guard around other lions while tense and annoyed by cubs.

Matakwa is calm and collected he loves appreciating the little things and life and is easily amused. He has a hard time acknowledging when things aren't going his way. He's reserved and although very fit for a leadership role due to his father's lessons and favoritism he takes a step back and allows Korongo to take charge. He hardly acts out of emotion but isn't exactly logical either. He is incredibly loyal more than the rest of his siblings and he knows this so he makes sure to not get on either of their bad sides always treading carefully. His movements are slow and unsure often looking to Korongo to make sure he has his back. Due to his large mane and size he makes for a good fighter but never goes into battle without Korongo making the first move on their opponent. He much prefers hunting to battle or even sparring. He's a little protective of his brother as Korongo is developing rather slowly with little muscle or mane to protect his throat especially when he's so aggressive. Matakwa isn't just a lackey though he's good with patrols and easy to talk to providing a needed friendly calmness to the group.

Korongo is the leader of their ragtag group he's a blunt realist if a bit bitter. Willing to see and deal with the situation how it is and isn't afraid to make tough choices knowing they are needed but aren't always guaranteed success. The only thing he isn't willing to accept is his own limitations demanding to be taken seriously. Although he started the chain of events that caused them to be exiled he doesn't regret it. He knew they were only bidding their time until they were driven out and no longer needed in the pride as most young males are. He made a bid to stay by overthrowing his father rather than waiting to be kicked out with a much-lowered chance of survival. He hardly looks to lean on his brother but won't deny Matakwa 's help. He's expressive and it's easy to tell what's on his mind. He doesn't particularly care about other's feelings except for his brother and sister's not making him the most empathetic or friendly lion despite being talkative and disliking loneliness. Is neither a good hunter or fighter but he gives it his all regardless. Isn't very tactical or strategic and prefers to make plans based on the current situation instead of trying to plan a few steps ahead taking everything at face value. He's a very active lion and often paces and spars to let out stress and anxiety over his role. I know

Korongo's design isn't totally on par with TLK style but I like the idea of his mane starting to darken a bit to show he's not incredibly young like the size of his mane suggests. Kidogo's spots will fade as she gets older.

They eventually find a pride to take over with the two brothers ruling and Kidogo was given a very high rank in the pride. Of course, Korongo takes over the role as 'lead leader' and Matakwa following his orders. Many lionesses in the pride prefer Matakwa to his brother due to him being easier to talk to and seemingly more attentive although that isn't always true. Yet Matakwa never challenges his brother nor does he want to. Kidogo grows up to be a brilliant fighter swift and hard-hitting often taking a huge role in defending the pride alongside her brothers. In fact she helped turn the tide and take over the pride when Korongo and Matakwa  first found it.

For anyone wondering, Kidogo means little or a little, Korongo means the gorge or canyon, and Matakwa mean wish/will.
