Nuka tilted his head towards the lioness as she paused, a few steps off of his side. Her gaze was fixed on something moving below, on a shelf of rock lower than the plateau they themselves were walking upon.

"... Sis? What's up?" Kula's ears had folded back as she recognized the shape that Nuka quickly recognized as a lioness. Since his fall amongst a pile of logs in a near-fatal attempt on the king's life Nuka's senses had been a bit... Dull. The older lionesses that had remained in the Outlands after the final battle for the Pridelands had said it happened sometimes, after a bad head injury. They would sharpen as time went on, or they wouldn't. Simple as that. Nuka supposed he couldn't be too unhappy with that considering the alternative had been never waking up at all.

Kula huffed out a growl. "Our little sister is on the move."

That perked Nuka right up. He twisted his head and squinted, trying to make out Vitani's shape even as the blurry shape disappeared into the gorges. He still didn't know quite what to think of their younger siblings anymore. On the one hand they'd made clear their position. They'd betrayed Mother and sided with Simba -- and even worse, they'd turned their older family away when they tried to reconvene in what simply MUST have been a last-ditch attempt at gaining the trust of Simba's pride and entering their welcoming paws. Vitani had even gone so far as to scar Kula's eye while driving her away from Pride Rock, giving her what she'd quite cruelly claimed was a 'mark of evil'.

"Calling the Guard, ya think?" Kula responded with a noncommittal grunt, but a lowing roar echoed below answered that question for Nuka.

What was drawing Vitani and her Guard into the Outlands?

Kula and Nuka spot Vitani as she goes to confront Kion and his returning Lion Guard.

In my canon Nuka lives!! Because... I say so honestly. He and Kula survive and remain in the Outlands, being far too loyal to their father to ever REALLY betray his memory. Kula had been left behind to dig and drag her precious brother from under the logs that trapped him. Nursing him back from near-death made her miss the battle that ended with Zira's death... And when he was well enough for her to sneak off and find out where her pride had gone she discovered them nestled up in Pride Rock.

At some point a few of the lionesses -- primarily those who were older, who'd been more loyal to Scar and Zira -- were found by Kula. In trying to commit them to rebellion Kula was caught and promptly kicked out by Vitani.
