Description Copypasta'd from the Sprinter Trueno:

This was something i've been planning on for some time now, since one of the cars Toyota referenced when they made the GT86 (let's pretend the Scion brand never happened) was the Weebshit hot rod, aka the AE86 Corolla duo, i felt they forgot one model as inspiration: the 1970-74 Toyota Corolla coupe (Corolla SR5 Coupe for those who played Forza 6/Horizon 3).

Most importantly, the Levin/Sprinter Trueno 1600GT. Both despite the different faces and model names are the same car and became the first truly sporty Corolla and thus, a boy racer special the likes of the Nissan Bluebird SSS (Datsun 510), the BMW 2002 Turbo and the Ford Escort Mexico/RS1600 amongst the likes.

Engine wise, the 1600GT as the namesake implies was a 1.6 liter Dual cam engine called the 2T-G, which featured a Hemispherical chamber, like the kind you'd see on the Chrysler Hemis and the Porsche 911 engine. Around 35,000 units of that Toyota engine were built and was a prototype of sorts for the 4AGE engine (the 1.6 Dual cam in the Corolla GTS/APEX models and first gen MR2). The US spec SR5 we got had the 2T-C, which is the Pushrod variant of the Toyota Hemi 4 cylinder.

There is an urban legend where it says that the 4AGE and 2T-G was modeled after the Cosworth BDA engine.

In the way this came out, i tried the best i could to mix retro aspects of the Gen 2 Corolla's coke bottle shape and the Toyota GT86's proportions and the main inspiration was the Boss model from Tra-Kyoto 6666/Rocket Bunny. which mixes the retro aspect of 60's and 70's mods with a modern touch. A clear example is the Boss RX7, which adds a front end replica of the Mazda RX3 and the Boss S14 Silvia, which front end resembles a 1970 Plymouth Cuda (In reality, it's modeled after the Sunny 120Y/Datsun B210 Fastback).

In the case of the Levin, the wheels are RS Watanabe wheels with 5 lugs and painted in a military olive green instead of the Sprinter's Mango orange.

Engine wise, it's the same FA20 you'd see on the regular model. only with 60hp more though turbocharging and an adjustable suspension. this isn't just a Stance special as it's been reworked to back up the 3/4 Muscle car motif Japan had back then. Both cars have the same setting.

This is also an homage of sorts to the Toyota Corolla, which is turning 50 years in 2016. Whether you hate it (For the most part, it gets the hate for being as bland as the Camry) or love it (Talking to you, Initial D fanboys). I will say that it's not the best selling nameplate for nothing. Albeit, the same can be said for the Ford Focus and the VW Golf. Truck wise, the Ford F150.

If we're talking single body continuation, there are 3 cars that fill that role perfectly:

The Ford Model T
The Volkswagen Beetle
The Fiat 124 sedan, which in the span of its life became the 3rd world's chariot of choice and the Cold War relic that became the Lada 2100 series.

So, will it reach 50 more years? or fade into the void as the Vitz/Yaris or even the Prius could be filling its role in the future?

Well, i will say to the next best selling car and the next people's car this: You're going to have to carry all the weight on your shoulders.

At least it looks better than Toyota's 50th anniversary Corolla with that Mirai-like front end.

way to fuck it up, Toyota. you just couldn't give it the IRS off the iM hatchback. Good luck as the Corolla hatchback cannibalizes the sales of the sedan.
