Description

"Even if you've done a process a hundred times, some things never change."
"Like the glassware?"
"You'd think so, right? But I like to keep things interesting - like trying out a different condenser just to see if it works better."
"So what never changes?"
"Well, I always take notes, wear goggles, that sort of stuff. And Gadget always gets captivated by anything that bubbles."

One more commission for Mimiero , featuring once again her chemist / engineer, Precious Metal, and her pet, Gadget.

Also on tumblr !
TechnicalStill image created with inkscape .
The animations were made and exported with aniGen
Exported with Adasek's SVGRender . Since new Firefox seems to disagree with it, I'm using an old version 11.0.

I really, REALLY need to move on with the aniGen rewrite. Every time I use it, I find some other hick up in it. I might just make a simple animation editing version for now, with no support for the usual editing.

You too can make animations with AniGen !

Probably moonshine.

Nah, if you're gonna' distill moonshine you need copper pipe held together with lead solder. That's the only way to do it haha.

You'll have to talk to Mimiero about that.

Oh heck yes, Precious Metal in the lab!
Killer animation dude!
That distillation apparatus looks awesome and the flame animation is totally mesmerizing.

Thanks. I've made the flame animation a while ago, actually, for this , I think.

I have one question. Is aniGen better than Synfig? Also, great work. I need to try this thing out, maybe.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MisterAibo In reply to AA-69 [2016-02-15 21:14:12 +0000 UTC]

I doubt an editor I made in my spare time can compare with something that actually has a development team. But aniGen works with SVG format natively - unlike Synfig Studio - which allows for a greater utility in tandem with Inkscape. Plus, I'm working on a fairly massive overhaul, so it might actually be useful. Synfig definitely has its uses, but it basically uses its proprietary format (I think). In contrast, anything you can make in Inkscape and aniGen you can also put in a web page, make interactive with javascript, and do other fun stuff with it.

But in the end, it comes down to preference.

Skylark-Torch In reply to MisterAibo [2016-02-13 16:48:04 +0000 UTC]

I'm only assuming here, but is it because this one doesn't spit flames out at random intervals due to mail arrivals?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MisterAibo In reply to Skylark-Torch [2016-02-13 16:58:47 +0000 UTC]

To their credit, dragons have opposable thumbs. Pretty useful for handling glassware, I'd think.

MisterAibo In reply to DatPoneEnthusiast90 [2016-02-12 07:33:08 +0000 UTC]

I would, but I'm afraid I have very little experience with Flash. I can give you some pointers I suppose, but the difference in technology results in different techniques.

I'm afraid I can't, sorry. Like I said, I don't use flash. I don't even have it. I do all my work in SVG. I can see room for improvement in the still poses, but I can't really comment on how they animate.

But I kinda want to do something with an explosion now.

Show the character covered in grey soot after the explosion fades and then have them shake the soot off? I'd love to see that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MisterAibo In reply to Fuzzinator23 [2016-02-11 21:27:58 +0000 UTC]

Well...

It's a distilling apparatus, the thermometer's right between seventh and eight mark, and I work with SI units here, the liquid coming out of it is as close to colorless I could do...

Yeah.

I think it's a moonshine still.

But that's just my opinion.

That's SVG for you - I could export this thing in 10 000 frames per second if there was any reason to, and each would be its own specific key frame with no blurring, frame transition, or any of the inbetween stuff you'd get with other technology.
