I don't give a fuck that it's hypocrisy. It's good that you're voicing out your opinion, but do you think anything will change ? No. You can do as you like, but the majority is still gonna spend their money on Valentines day. It's a chance for me to give some memories to another even more, easily remembered (because of Valentine's day.) An object that he/she will remember or an act that she/he'll remember me by. I show my caring most of the time either way, it's not just on Valentine's day. And it has ben made to be a day of romance etc and it has been that way for a long time, so many people confess to another on that day. It's been like that for too long, for it to change.

I don't believe I will change the world, but adding just a single drop of reflexion in the ocean of foolishness that is the world cannot be a waste... I'm not crossing the Rubicon with my army to defeat Rome, no.
I express my opinion and everyone is free to think whatever they want about it. The confrontation of different points of view has made the world what it is today, with some prevailing on others because of different reasons, e.g. money, power, etc.
You can buy your love a gift on any day of the year and if he/she can't remember it because it's not a "Valentine's Day gift" then I blame her/him and I pity you.
Love is not about one day, and one who needs it as a "reminder", as a "push in the back" is not suited for loving.
Anyway, happy Valentine's Day!!

I apologize if I gave off a rude vibe yesterday or if I was straight-out rude. I don't know what I was thinking, just wow. Now that I'm reading the comment I wrote... I must have been having a Valentine's Day "high," because I agree on your description of Valentine's Day.
(No, I am not being sarcastic or lying to you.)
I, for the point, am a lonely and shy person, who doesn't go out much and doesn't have the guts to say "you're dear to me" to friends on other days than Valentine's Day, if I said it on another day, it would probably be shot down, with a "what's up with you?" It's a happy day for me, because we have this thing called "hug day" in our school and I get hugs from people I rarely talk to. And it's a day for me to show the soft side of me.
I love to make other people smile, NOT ONLY WITH OBJECTS!
But yes, it's all about the money these days.

At least I try my best to please her every day.
Someone who needs a day to "wake up" is not really in love.
You can celebrate your love any day of the year, there is just not this economic hypocrisy behind it on a normal day.
