He didn't have a girlfriend or lover, a friend of his named Izumi was just super close so most thought they liked each other and referred to them as a couple. Tobito was probably just making fun of Itachi.
And I don't think Artist-chan ever said she believed Itachi was gay, just that it was possible he was. Which it still is, even if he did like Izumi he still might've been bi so unless he states it then you can never say one way or another.
And I really hope you're either over exaggerating or mean you love the character and not that you want to date Pein because that is impossible and he was a corpse being controlled by Nagato who I believe was with Konan anyway.
