I wanted to give Usopp a huge appreciation "essay", but I don't know. Every time I wanna put something down, I end up erasing.I just wanna say, I can express my self through this character whenever I'm in the mood to make fanart and I can make a connection. Usopp is the closest to home. I get his feel of "not being strong, or good enough" I know the feel of "being left behind" or "unable to catch up". I get that "in a place of people totally out of my league" feel. I know that intimidating, scary feeling whenever i'm unsure about my actions, when I'm afraid to make a decision. When faced with something I'm not sure I can over come.
So many people out there know this feeling, especially artists, which he is ironically.
And that is why I don't understand why Usopp is under appreciated. You can identify with this dude and yet ... people call him annoying for just... anything. Looks, fears, shit like that. Think about what he's facing every day. You'd be acting the same if you had no devil fruit shit, not super powerful weapons. Whatever. idk. It annoys me when petty reasons like that are reasons he's not liked. I find it weird that when people are introduced to weaker characters, no one likes them as much.
I'm sure Usopp's felt the "alone in a room of people" feeling. He probably felt that a lot during his early time on the ship.
idk guys. Random dklsnvdklsnvkl thoughts caused me to randomly crash. Here is how i feel. Sorry Usopp. I don't mean to use you like this ,3,;; Oda made you so amazing.

Usopp totally needs more love ;-;. I always liked him because I think from all of the One Piece characters he's the most "real" one. When I run into a super strong enemie I am not going to grap my three swords and enter the frey. I mean WTF O.o? What really annoys me, are all those "I don't fear dead"- characters which you can find everywhere -.-. It's normal to be afraid if you face a difficult task. I always thought the battles of the other character are pretty boring (and it's always the same). They throw one attack after the other toward the enemie, cough some blood, say something like "I won't lose" or "I will beat you", cough some more blood and beat the enemie with last strength.
Usopp is not strong and he's not fast. He just got a bag full of stuff and his mind. He's like the MacGyver of the One Piece Universe! Every battle is unique and exciting 
And the whole SogekingStuff is awesome. I mean the idea of creating a imaginary person who represents everything you want to be is really cool 
I also loved all those story parts where he was so sad because he lost the money they wanted to use to repair the flying lamp and the part where he beats the hollow-princess and is like: woohhoo I have to tell the other 
He's the most interesting character of the whole story because he's has no great super powers (although his sniper skills are pretty badass

Dude, you know I feel exactly the same about Usopp, and I can never relate with people who dislike him for being 'weak' or 'annoying' or 'useless' Then there's the even more frustrating people who hate on him for seemingly no fucking reason at all. Would NOT be the same without this guy! Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, whatever, they're all great characters and I'd never want any of them kicked from the series, but I don't understand why all the hate is usually directed at our lovable long nose. Seriously. It might have been you that I went on and on about how I reckon Usopp is there as a link between the reader and the manga, because the characters of One Piece are so super-powered and sometimes unrelatable... Usopp is the most human. Because, if you think about it, (I do a lot, fff) the bravery and recklessness of the Strawhats is not normal human nature. A lot of the time, when Luffy goes and does all that brave shit, I try and imagine myself doing some of those things in his situations, and I just can't. Not to mention the fact that their powers are so out of this world (love Oda's creative mind

DKNVLDNKLBDHSBDHUIGYDTDY JUST THIS WHOLE ESSAY/PASSAGE/ EVERYTHING. I love it all cause yes, Oda said that Usopp will never be just as super powerful as the others because he will be the one people can relate to. He's the most human and his strength is VERY close to that of a human being. I mean YOU'D THINK PEOPLE WOULD BE ALL "Yep, I'd do that too" when you fucking see Usopp running from some giant enemy shooting fucking lasers at people. COME ON. I'd fucking run. Fuck everything else! I mean I love Luffy, Zoro and Sanji... BUT DUDE, COME ON. THEY'RE INSANE. Half the time they just barge the fuck in and do all this awesome shit. But Usopp's just like "lol no bitch." And yet he still pulls through in the end NO MATTER HOW OFTEN HE RUNS. PLUSSSSSSSSSSSSS he grew up. As the adventure went on, he started to stay behind WITH his comrades and he's helped them out regardless of the situation. MIGHT I REMIND THE WORLD when Kuma was coming after Sanji and Usopp, Sanji pushed Usopp down and told him to run. Usopp stayed. He said they'd leave together canon moment is canon. BUT ANYWAYS, THAT SHOWS THAT HE DEVELOPED. You remember back in Arlong Park when Zoro was tied to the boat cause he wanted to hurry in? And fucking Usopp and Johnny left him there and swam the hell away??? I MEAN it was a bit more cowardly than I would imagine but it's fight or flight instinct. Most humans would abandon everything to save themselves. It's human instinct. And 400-500 chapters later, Usopp stayed with Sanji... That shit says somethin' bro. shipping wise too
And yes, THEY DON'T DO HUMAN THINGS. Luffy fucking running right into the face of danger, Zoro cutting through steel and A FUCKING TRAIN VIA ENIES LOBBY ARC??? Sanji's fucking leg is on fire?!?!? Franky's a goddamn cyborg. CKLSNVKDLSNVDLSLDSNBLD THINK PEOPLE. I mean, what reason can you have to dislike the character that represents you the most??? And ...when people say he's just annoying OTL Fucking...people won't be saying that shit now cause LOLTIMESKIPWAT. All these fake fans are just like "LOL OMG USOPP'S SOOOOO HAWT NOW. HE'S MY FAV"...

*Warning, semi-long rant coming up*
About a year into discovering One Piece, I started my first year of high school. Up to this point I'd gotten really good grades, so I was accepted into one of the best schools in my state. Things were way more advanced then what I was used to, not to mention I was a little bit younger than most of the other freshman, and way more awkward and quiet than I am now. The stress of the insane workload led my grades to drop from A's to D's and F's, something I'd never experienced before. Not to mention another experience with was the equivalent of having someone step all over my heart, I was pretty stressed out. I felt so scared, depressed, and even alone, since the few friends I had either didn't go to the same school or were doing way better than me.
Around this time, I started noticing Usopp more, to the point what I had something of a crush on him. Now I realize I probably attached myself to him because of how similar he was to me. He'd also get scared (even if it was for a different reason) and I related to that. But he always persevered, no matter how terrifying things got, he'd try his best. In my own strange way, he was the closest thing I had to a kindred spirit. And he still is.
This sounds really weird now, but it's true. And I don't regret a thing.
