JoJo.... Yeah....---------------
I've seen Horton Hears a Who! five times now, and I think that some of the JoJo fandom is starting to rub off on me. Besides browsing deviantArt for new (and decent) Horton Hears a Who! compositions, I've been reading fanfiction. Fanfiction, dudes! I never read fanfiction.... Of course, I only read fanfiction dealing with the Mayor, Ned McDod, but still.
Anyway.... JoJo. Yeah, alright, the little fuzzball is cool, but I'm not all, "Oh my word, JoJo! I wanna hug him and squeeze him and... blah blah blah...!" on him like billions of other... peeps out there. Nevertheless, I had been meaning to draw him correctly for the past few... months, and I finally managed to do so last night. Stupid kid. I don't know why I have such a hard time sketching him. Perhaps it's his rounded profile, or maybe it's just me? Hmm....
The whole "Surfing on DNA" title is probably pretty blatant. What's cooler than sliding on DNA-shaped ladders with marbles clinking and tinkling along behind you like surfing dolphins? Nothing, I tell you! If I had a musical observatory like that I'd wanna add a little personal creativity to it too, so I've gotta give the kid some credit.
As far as his design goes, you can't get any more "cute but Tim Burton-ish" than that. Contrary to that statement, my sister said that he looks like Mowgli, what with the hair and all. I have to agree. (snigger)
Speaking of design, I found that I completely messed up on JoJo's anatomy here. I think he's twisted in ways that... might not agree with his physical structure were he an organic individual. Of course, he's real anyway but... well... you get my point....
"So, did you enjoy drawing him, Mitch?" you ask?
Well... yeah.... Alright, I did. (snigger)

P.S./Edit: I rounded JoJo's feet on purpose, basically because I wanted to avoid drawing those annoying little tips on the ends of them.

i think the legs in the first panel look a bit awkward, but other than that great!

My critique: His feet are kinda round and they don't look like that in the movie, but maybe you did that on purpose.

Cha, I know! I'm surprised that no one else has drawn JoJo in that shot yet (surfing down the spiral "ladders"). It's the best scene in the whole movie. (snigger)
Ah yes, I forgot to mention that I did draw his feet like that on purpose. I didn't want to deal with those annoying points on the ends of them.

I'll admit the proportions are a little off, but on the plus side he looks a cuddly as a teddy bear... moreso!
