Description
A new package of Oreo Cookies was always a big deal in the small apartment Matt and Mello shared.

Mello was usually out for most of the day and ate whenever it was convenient. As for Matt, well Matt sometimes so caught up in his video games and computer hacking, he'd forget to eat. Either way, neither went to the store very often unless they seriously needed something. Whenever either of them did go to the store, however, they almost always bought some Oreos. It was never talked about. It was never requested. It was an unspoken rule for the apartment.

But, why were these cookies so... cherished?

Because, honestly, Matt and Mello had a system. An overly thought out system, considering neither verbally confirmed the plan with the other. But, it was a system nonetheless.

Matt looked up from waiting for his game to load on the TV screen when heard Mello slam the door shut. His eyes lit up when he watched Mello put a shiny blue box on the divider near the door. Which, the pair usually just called 'the thing when you first walk in.' Mello didn't say a word in reference to the Oreo container as he took off his ridiculously feminine coat. Matt heard the noise of a gun loading and he looked back to the TV screen. Game was done loading. Matt forgot about the Oreos.

"...It's midnight, Matt..." Mello grumbled as Matt proceeded to kick the living shit out of everyone in his video game character's way. To most, the statement was a way of saying 'get the fuck off the PlayStation I haven't watched TV all day, dammit.' But, really, midnight was usually when the Oreo gorging started. Again, this was not planned. It was just how it was.

A soft grunt came from the redhead, signaling to Mello that he had heard and understood his comment. But, he was too engrossed to give an intelligent answer. Mello rolled his eyes and slowly got up, grabbed the Oreo box, and sat down next to Matt. They began their process.

First, Mello ripped open the bag and took one Oreo out. Carefully, as to not break the cookie, he twisted the top and bottom chocolate part, making them come apart. He tapped Matt on his shoulder once.

Matt opened his mouth. This was when Mello acted disgusted. With a grumble, he put the chocolate part with the most 'white stuff' in front of Matt's mouth. The redhead, without taking his eyes off the game, scraped his teeth across the cookie, removing all the white fluff.

Mello grinned, taking the two hard chocolate cookies and munching on them. To him, those were the only good parts of the Oreo itself. Once he was done, he took out another Oreo. The process restarted.

The blonde blushed at one point that night. While putting his hand in front of Matt's open mouth, the redhead's tongue 'accidentally' brushed his fingertips. Mello didn't say anything about his partners ghost of a smirk.

The box of Oreo Cookies was about half done. The process was slowing, considering one could only take so much 'just white stuff' and 'just chocolate.' Well... one could argue that Mello had a lot more practice in his 'just chocolate' munching. Either way, as the hour grew later, the process got slower.

Tonight was odd to Mello, however, because almost every time he tapped Matt's shoulder - the redhead smiled. More times than not, he'd 'accidentally' nip or lick at his fingertips. A couple of times, Mello feigned disdain. Mello knew how to put an end to this.

Gently, the blonde tapped Matt's shoulder and the redhead opened his mouth. Mello took this opportunity to lean forward and lip-lock his game-obsessed partner. Matt dropped his PlayStation controller. The kiss lasted longer than Mello had thought. Probably because Matt was more interested than Mello had originally thought. The kiss grew passionate, and before anything else happened, Matt pulled away.

Blue and brown eyes were locked, but neither said anything. Matt took up his controller and for a moment, Mello thought he was going to go back to playing. The redhead simply put it on the beat up coffee table and shut off the PlayStation. Eye-contact was established again, and after a moment of silence, so was lip-contact.

It was never verbally confirmed by neither Matt nor Mello but, for some reason, a new part of the Oreo process was added.
