Description This took me a lot longer than any other surreal drawing. This is partly because I did it in graphite and....otherwise just because I got interrupted quite a bit in the process of creating it. I had to give it a broad title because by the time I'd actually finished, I couldn't pick out any one influence or situation in the image to effectively describe. Life's been crazy.

Feel free to guess which parts were done it what mood; I'm interested in seeing if the differences in how I felt while drawing are interpretable by viewers. Hint: Essentially this was split up in thirds from top to bottom. Three different thoughts, similar context.

Anddddd --- a fun fact about the eye furthest to the right; I had no intention of drawing it. It was initially a wave but before long I stepped back and realized that I'd drawn an aged rendition of the first eye~!

Drawn over the course of this past month or so, 11"x14" graphite. I won't dwell on too many stories here because there's lot's to tell. Hope you enjoy!

(this is for any of you who were starting to miss my drawings....)

I am lovin' your gallery! This drawing here is fantastic, the shapes and the face growling with teeth like a piano. That is an interesting way to progress a drawing, in different states and moods. Unfortunately it tends to happen naturally sometimes and even more depending on how long you take to finish a drawing.

Needless to say, I never thought about how this affects the artwork itself, but is certainly an intriguing concept!

Wonderful gallery, I am enjoying it!

Impresionante.
I LOVE IT!

i enjoy how your so particular with white and black space in your artwork i see a nose in the distance, and it's hard to understand in somewhat because its cramped up in a tight space, but overall it's a nice tackle at being very unique I like this piece because it's very graphic and you do a wonderful job with that

Very organic at the bottom and I can appreciate it Keep it coming.

I think in this piece in particular, I was trying to push the limits on how much black I used in the picture. I wanted to see how much I could fill in before it started to lose its depth, haha Fun to mess around with, it's like a game of jenga with adding/subtracting darkness.

Thank you kindly!

I'm gonna completely guess your moods! Weeee!
The toppish region was excited/confused/starting new things, the middlish is some sort of peaceful clarity and... amazement... and intriguement, the bottomish is somewhat overwhelmed, pretty happy, and also appreciative? With little whooble jolts of excitent some disbelief.
I DID MY BEST. e_e And this was with the help of your general communications over the past month, as well. P:
Regardless of whether or not I have any idea what it all means, your work is lovely as always XD

Mivala In reply to slight-obstruction [2013-02-09 03:43:59 +0000 UTC]

Hahahaha, very much the opposite!O:
The center I started with situation #1 in mind. Drove me crazy but I felt kinda empty. I kept drawing it in to perfection kind of...passing the time slowly because lorddddd knows, situation #1 was stressful and speedy.
ANnnnnnNNNNnddDDDDD then top part was theeee amazement...so much so that I didn't even care if my lines were straight. And then bottom and left were this morninggggggggg after hearing some more lovely things, so youuu may very well have that part right.C:

DANKE DOE. I have suchhh a macho migraine tonight.U:

Maybe it's because emptiness is so serene and nice in my opinion... Hmm...

Very possible, haha I keep trying to capture movement and like....a busy depth with these things. It's like a game of Jenga sometimes...I keep added black to one side, then the other, then see how much black I can get on the page without losing any of the perspective.O:

do you speak spanish? learn it in school? just interested in words? the latter fascinates me. do you know "fustiness" or "definistrate"or "quotidian?" those are all words i learned literally from reading the dictionary (the hardbound kind that you hold in your hands! lol). words rock!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mivala In reply to crazyruthie [2013-02-09 20:02:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I took four years of it, haha Spanish isn't something you hear to often in rural MN so I rarely get to use it. I've found a community of Spanish artists here on DA who I converse with, though, which helps me stay in the know I guess.:I

I adore works but I have never heard those ones in particular, haha! I like words that start with the letter "o", myself.C: Nice and full-sounding.

i took french and i wish i had chosen to learn more. i was supposed to take more in university, but somehow i didn't. i've been to france a few times and tried it out. people can understand me, i can't understand them. i get very nervous and they speak so fast. i bet that's true with people who are studying a second laungage, they all thing everybody is talking too fast. lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mivala In reply to crazyruthie [2013-02-09 20:45:56 +0000 UTC]

I only understand Spanish when it's written...and very little when people talk because it does sound fast! I can only really catch a few phrases and words... There's a website you might like -- [link] -- I use it to practice my English, art knowledge and Spanish!:'D

wow, well done. love to look at it, but i don't see how it reflects what we've been talking. hmmm...some of it speaks to me. i get it a little bit more out of it the more i look at it. it's almost cubist! that's pretty big paper for such a drawing. you must have worked your ass off! good stuff!

It's a bit more of therapeutic piece, I think...I got really lost in it. Every time a pattern repeated itself in the past month or so, I just put it down on the page, haha I did the top and bottom tonight & Monday, and the center over the course of an uninspired time (its rather barren....kind of referencing the first person I talked about, as at the time I felt just empty).

I had a lot of fun towards the end, haha The page kind of got fuller thanks to recent events.
