Yes I understand what you mean for the dark and light contrast but I tried to use a few colours palette
I know for the eyes but this is my style and I think this is good

good animation and technique, but u should watch skateboard videos cause that's not the right feet position for a kickflip

I think the eyes and the mouth should be darker than the rest of the body
