Actually, that's a Winter Halo, made by the moons light reflecting off of ice in clouds. :3 A Moonbow appears the same way a regular rainbow does, in an arc from the ground. It's made from moonlight reflecting through water molecules in the air, typically near a waterfall.
But it really is a sight to see, isn't it?

Was it unseasonable cold? There might have been a lot of cold wind high up. Or did you see it through a thin cloud?
