It made me sad to draw this. Hell, this whole darn chapter made me sad. I mean, Hinata is my favorite character ever, and if Kishimoto-sama really killed her off, I'm going to be so mad! And depressed. =[
But, I don't think she's really dead. For one, no one has ever told Naruto that they love him before, and I doubt Kishi-sama would kill off the first person to tell him they do. Not only would it screw with all of Hinata's personal growth, but it would also mush Naruto's poor little brain into a sad-and-angry smoothie. ;_;
Also, the theme of Shippuden so far has been the passing of the torch from the old generation to the new. Meaning, he probably doesn't plan on killing any young people. (hopefully.)

the newest manga came out! hinata will not die! if she does I'm not watching naruto again!! *sobs*
One reason Kishimoto won't kill off hinata is because she has so many fans (like you and me) that less people would follow naruto and it would become less popular. Kishimoto doesn't want that now does he?
plus, as you said, he really can't kill off the new generation, that would mess up everything (well not everything but you get what I'm saying.)

I look at some art work and spoilers for this and some people are saying they can't wait for hinata to die! HOW COULD THEY?!
Even if someone doesn't like a certain character, they shouldn't say mean things about them because other people do like them.

I can actually see this happening as the aftermath to the battle
Kishimoto-sensei has tricked us before--making us think that someone died before making them pull through (Sasuke in the Wave arc, Chouji and Neji in the Retrieval arc, Hinata in the Chuunin Exam arc, etc.) So there's a 50/50 chance he's doing it again...

I really hope Kishimoto-sama really is just pulling our big communal leg. You're right, he has done this before. (For example, OMG, I cried when I thought Chouji-kun was dead! ;_; ) ^^ But I'm gaining more and more confidence that Hinata'll pull through. She's tough.
