In some fanfictions, when a demon mates with a human, a human gains their lifespan, becomes a demon or half-demon like them or some kind of stuff like that, can always just think that in your way so that way fans don't have to be upset about it. You'd think Kagome loving Inuysha, she'd find a way to give her the same lifespan as him like wish on the shikon jewel to have that lifespan or become a half-demon or demon like him.

Eh, except I've read Mermaid Forest, and living longer than a human's lifespan just isn't appealing to me. I hate the whole "mating" trope as well, but I have a different solution, whether or not it is less out there than the "mating" trope, I don't know. But there, one isn't going to die a drastically long time before the other. Everything is fine.
