Tempest

Distant thunder resonates through the evening sky, accompanied by vivid flashes of dazzling light. Each passing minute it grows closer and louder, now accompanied by the dull drumming of rain on glass. Falling heavier, and driven by gusts of wind, droplets of water crash against the window, violently exploding into tiny showers. In moments the garden path is overflowing with deep puddles, their expanding rings reflecting the lightning to create shadows on the path below.

Almost together there comes an earth shattering rumble and a flash of energy. A brilliant explosion of light, chasing the darkness to every corner and creating flickering shadows across the garden. Just beyond the garden a solitary tree sways dramatically in the storm, bowing and dancing in the rain.

In fascination, she watches the drama unfold beyond the window.
