Here we have some Hollyleaf- and Ashfur-fanart.
Again: I never read the book in which this scene takes place. So please excuse me if there are some mistakes. I wasn't sure if this scene was at night or not, for example.Anyways, I like how it came out
I didn't want Hollyleaf to look like she enjoyed what she did... there are some pics on dA that show her with an insane smile or something like that. But I don't think this would fit her, as far as I could gather information about her character. I believe when Hollyleaf killed Ashfur, she was just mad at him and full of fear and frustration. His murder seems to be an act of pure desperation.

Accident? How do you kill someone by accident?
"She was stalking Ashfur along the WindClan border stream, treading lightly, avoiding boulders where her claws might scrape or ferns that might brush her fur. Ashfur, intent on hunting, never noticed she was there. Hollyleaf followed him like a shadow until they came to a place where the bank was steep and slippery, and the stream was a foaming snake far below. She pounced on him from a rock, gripping his shoulders with her forepaws and twisting her head around to sink her teeth into his throat. Inside the red mist that clouded her senses, Ashfur was nothing but prey that had to be killed to protect the warrior code and the future of her clan. Ashfur clawed feebly at her, but blood was gushing from his throat. His body went limp and Hollyleaf leaped away, letting it crash into the stream. She stood watching it for awhile, until the swift-flowing water had cleared away all the blood. Then she padded up to a pool of water on top of the bank and rinsed her paws, turning the water red.Beside her, Ashfur's body bobbed against the bank before floating away downstream."
Doesn't seem like an accident to me. :/

Well, if you want to go for the more out-there theories on how both of those explanations could be "canon", is that maybe - 'false memories' is a concept when it comes to Jayfeather's powers. He sees it through their head, a bias perspective. So maybe an extreme example like seeing your wound be murderer's death, it may be possible she tricked her brain into thinking she'd caused it.

We're Warriors fans, of course we've read that book. But the Ultimate Guide made some mistakes with its stories, they made it seem like it was an accident, but Hollyleaf did intend to murder Ashfur and it wasn't accidental.
Please look deeper into the stories and look closely next time.

I like this version of what happened, because, this is kinda blurry in the story ? Brambleclaw said it was an accident, but I think it was to cover her ??? Anyway I was so happy to see the Within Temptation reference I love this group and I think most of their songs suit Warriors Cats :0 But the song that I personally associated with Hollyleaf, and Ivypool, is The Truth Beneath The Rose; since it says
"Give me strength to face the truth, the doubt within my soul
No longer I can justify the bloodshed in his name

plus Erin said that she actually didn't kill Ashfur. She just latched and TRIED to kill him and ashfur spooked and fell over and some of the wounds around his neck opened and started bleeeding

Erin Hunter is a group of authors and they agreed that she deliberately killed him, Brambleclaw said it was an accident because he still loved Hollyleaf as a daughter and it was a cover up

God, I love how you drew Hollyleaf as the horrible demon that she is. I really, really, REALLY, dislike Hollyleaf as a character, but I loaf her design :3.

I'm on neither sides but I do like Hollyleaf more than Ashfur. Hollyleaf is a pretty awesome character. She's just a normal cat who thought she had some power (the prophecy) but she didn't. She had an obsession with the warrior code but that was her character

No, there's proof that Ashfur struck first. The source was actually Brambleclaw, somehow. And I agree with you, yes, but still, proof is still proof...
Let me alter the story.
Hollyleaf was on the riverbank, Brambleclaw watching from the shadows. Ashfur saw her, and knew (or thought) that nobody was around and saw it as an opportunity to kill one of Squirrelflight's 'kits'. So he sprang, and in self defense, Hollyleaf lashed out. It was a lucky strike, because it landed on the throat. Hollyleaf, since she was so loyal to the Warrior code, shoved his body into the river, therefore sending him to RIP in pepperonis in the lake. Unfourtunatly, his corpse caught on some debris and it caused the later uproar. Most thought Sol killed Ashfur, so that happened. Way later, Hollyleaf confesses that she did it. She doesn't tell the story, wanting a full punishment, but Brambleclaw fills in the rest of it and Hollyleaf is proven innocent. Yay!

Then where did the teeth marks come from that Leafpool saw? Brambleclaw/star lied in order to protect his "daughter", but plenty of sources say she DID kill him. The novella was written by a different author, which explains why that book says she clawed him, even though Long Shadows (or Sunrise, I forget which) has a scene where Leafpool finds teeth marks in Ashfur's neck.

I mean, you can always believe what you want - it is just a fictional series. But in publication and chronological order, the discovery of the teeth marks came before the supposed "slip and claw"

Well, it still isn't proven that Brambleclaw was in fact watching, and there is a theory that he was trying to make his daughter forgive him for not knowing about the lie. But I'm pretty sure that the theory I told you about was true.

Yes, it is very confusing. And no, I do not believe this theory. Brambleclaw's part of the story could be a lie, and Brambleclaw could be embracing his inner Tigerstar, but he has been so loyal to ThunderClan that I think all of the Tigerstar in him is gone.
