Hmm I wander why they have this symbol on a Covenant ship when this is also on Halo Anniversary's Solitary/Prisoner map?

Somewhat. I noticed that it's just turned a bit on one of them on Solitary and the one next to it has the same patters, but they're jumbled around. It's kinda funny. It's like they're say others won't notice, But I sure do. Take a look sometime ^_^
I notice a lot of things in Halo Anniversary that most don't pay any attention to. LOL I love to observe a lot in Forerunner tech and design.

I wonder if there's any explanation beyond copy/paste map design laziness... why would the Covenant put a symbol from a Forerunner prison in a Corvette?

LOL You got me. I also noticed this symbol on the Anniversary Damnation map just below the three waterfalls. You'll see them on the three round platforms over the water.
And you're right. They're a bit lazier than they use to be. To many repeated patterns. I don't mind it in some places, but they could have done better with something like that.
