Description Yoko Suzuki is a Raccoon City College student interning at an Umbrella Facility when the outbreak in Raccoon occurs. She's a shy, secretive girl who uses her bookbag to carry way more items than anyone else. She's also a key figure in the Decisions, Decisions scenario involving the Umbrella Facility she formerly worked at.

I decided against using a monster in this and went for a calm, but no less creepy setting with Yoko cautiously making her way through the darkened facility hallway with a grenade launcher.

I wanted to capture the unusual emergency lighting as well as the claustrophobic fell of the hallway itself since anything can be lurking just ahead in the darkness. Everything is all steel plated and very sterile which makes the gore and damage done during the outbreak stand out that much more.

I used inkwash over brush and pen inks as well as paintshopt to teak the light effects

Yoko: "Why do I get the feeling that I shouldn't be here?"

*power goes out and emergency lighting activates along with an alarm*

meanwhile in another control room

Scientist 1:"Why did they shutdown the system? They know we are down here."

Scientist 2:"If there's no power, there's no containment systems."

Scientist 1:"Can we get out?"

Scientist 2:"The doors are electronic." *pushes all the buttons but door will not open*

The screen says: WARNING: BATTERY POWER! ALL SYSTEMS ON STANDBY!

DOOR SYSTEMS: OFFLINE
LABORATORY CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS: OFFLINE
COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS: OFFLINE
EMERGENCY FAILSAFES: OFFLINE
QUARANTINE SYSTEMS: OFFLINE

ALL OTHER SYSTEMS ARE ONLINE AND FUNCTIONING.

Why does it seem that the most important systems are the ones that have problems.

That's why I have umbrella in the doghouse, because of their massive amounts of EPIC FAIL they have in their facilities.

Would put this in my gallery, but I figured it was small enough to put here.

It also doesn't help that they seem to hire psychotics and sociopaths and then put them in charge of their operations.

One of my favourite characters to play as.

She's fun to use just because of her storage ability and her good luck charm. Also I love giving her giant, powerful weapons since the recoil makes her slide around

I didn't know that she slides around.

Yeah, if you have her shot the machine gun or anything more powerful than a handgun she slides on her feet whenever you fire

She looks that way in the game. I'd be scared too if I was alone in a place full of hunters, zombies and an insane tyrant

I like her sense of vulnerability and confusion. That's exactly how I'd feel if I were in that place. good job.

Thanks so much! Yoko just seems like a very bookish and nervous person so I think being alone in a hallway even with that much fire power would still make her feel claustriphobic and probably fill her full of dread.

Well since of all the characters Yoko is the one with the closest connection to Umbrella, I think she must have a sense of guilt over everything that's gone wrong with the city. And since her memory is messed up she's probably wondering if she was part of the evil. That's what I think, anyway. She's the weakest of the group, and I like the idea of the person you least suspect being the one who's most at fault.

It’s sort of stated throughout the Outbreak series by Yoko herself that she’s become confused and disillusioned by her experiences and feels somewhat guilty about what happened because of Umbrella’s experiments.

She believed in the company and thought they were trying to save lives with pharmaceuticals. It’s a pretty harsh reality check when she realizes what they were really up to at the facility and for someone who thought they were helping humanity it’s a vicious kick to the box. :shakefist

So it’s not that Yoko’s memory is messed up, she was only a college intern and not a full blown researcher yet and she literally had no clue about the bio weapons aspect of the company. This is why she seems confused by everything at the labs when you go back there with her. She literally had no idea it was a bio weapons manufacturing facility.

I mean it would be pretty silly if every intern were allowed to feed the hunters in their pens or really know what all those G-Infant embryos really were or just run all over the place at will. If Yoko did that she’d suddenly “go missing” in Raccoon City, become one of Umbrella’s unwilling test subjects.

In a way, for Yoko, I think it’s a good thing events played out like they did since I doubt someone with a conscience and personality like her could last at the company once she realized what they were really up to.

You've actually made it clearer for me.
Everyone else who talks about this game makes it out as if Yoko has amnesia, or had horrible experiments done to her, but I like the way you state she was clueless about the whole thing. And you're right- civilians who find out too much about Umbrella's operations normally do "go missing". Like in RE3 when you find a document in the abandoned factory telling the staff "Any intruders must be shot on sight or used for further experiments" or something like that.
I love the fact that the outbreak games have an innocent girl like Yoko being involved with such sadistic bastards!

By the way, a kick in the box? Nice image....!!!!

I'm glad I could help clear things up for you. I would pick a character and just play every scenario straight through with that character just to get their storyline done. So far the one I was disappointed in was Jim. He's like the Jar Jar Binks of Resident Evil and his ending really shows that off.

And I'm glad you like the mental image of Yoko getting kicked in the box. XD

i love your attention to background detail. i always just draw the character and add noo background at all. it seems boring to me to draw in backgrounds

Thanks so much! I like drawing backgrounds and I love adding details to a picture. The only time I don't do backgrounds is if I'm doing a handbook style picture of a character. It's just to show off the entire character in detail and maybe a head shot of them and that's it. My MASK character pictures are all like that since most people don't rememebr the show.
