I'm always experimenting with new things, always trying to find the one thing I'm good at, which is why my gallery is a mix of a lot of different things. Don't know if I've quite found it, though.

For the most part, I've lost interest in 3D modeling, which is why I haven't produced any significant models in over two years. It doesn't help that my job robs me of much of my free time.

People have suggested to me in the past that I use bases to improve my drawing. The problem is, I don't draw digitally. But what I can do is get a pose reference from a base, like I did from your picture of Ruby.

I often have to erase and re-draw certain parts of the female form as well if they are necessary in the picture. It's frustrating to get it right, that's for sure.
You've done a really great job on this! The thick lines suit it well. The hands look great (which is a really tough part to draw, nice work there) and the details such as the tail jewelry, hair, clothing and such looks really impressive. I know you say a lot that you aren't very comfortable/well versed with original drawings that aren't technical in some way, but I see so much improvement every time you come up with an original art piece lately.
I will note a thing or two that may need improving:
Forgive me for being a little crude. The crotch area seems like it is spaced out a bit too far. While it is true, a skinnier person/anthro probably would have a space between the legs, normally they would overlap a little bit or there would only be a tiny space. I hope you know what I mean there, it's kind of hard to explain!
The position of the ears make me think that the face should be at more of a 3/4s view rather than looking out straight. Or perhaps the right ear is up a little too high on the head. (My right)
But seriously, I mean it when I say I'm really impressed by the amount of improvement I see in your works. Great job!

No, I understand. The large spacing between her legs wasn't quite intended, and I wanted to close that gap, but at the same time I didn't want to give her chubby legs. You'll notice, if you look at the reference picture, that the original artist drew Ruby with a lot skinnier torso, which made that gap a lot smaller. I still have a tendency to draw characters (male and female) with wide torsos, for reasons unknown.
And yeah, I should have put a little more of a tilt to the face. That's definitely something I need to work on, and I think using more reference drawings will help with that. Remember, in my engineering job, I draw things in two perspectives: straight on, and 90° rotated...rarely anything in between. That may be why I have such difficulty drawing things at oblique angles.
