It's been years since I've done any kind of character design, be it creating new characters or changing the look of my existing one. I thought I was long overdue.
Anyway, I decided to create this character. Don't worry, she's not a replacement for STP...she's an additional character. Anyway, I figure I should tell you a bit about her.
Her name is Renovatia the Hedgehog, or Reena for short. She has a twin brother named Renovatio (Ren), which looks like a male version of her. Both of their names mean "rebirth" in Latin, a reference to the fact that this is at least a temporary rebirth of designing characters. They are STP's cousins on his mother's side.
While she's got a figure that some might find attractive, she isn't the type of girl to strut her stuff, preferring to wear a simple T-shirt with faded capris and simple leather shoes. She also wears a pendant around her neck that she considers to be her good-luck charm.
She's very quiet and reserved around people she doesn't know, making it hard for her to reach out and make friends. But in the company of friends, she's a lot more sociable and friendly. She loves playing practical jokes on people as long as no one gets hurt. She's also a spiritual person and can be found reading her Bible regularly. She's also got quite a voice on her (to Ren's resentment sometimes
) and she puts it to good use in her church choir.I'm not sure where I'll use this character yet, if anywhere. I haven't thought that far ahead. It'd be nice if I had some sprites of her, but I can't sprite at all.

Two things which you can give me credit for in this picture: the background, which I made myself, and the fact that the picture is larger than what can be captured in a single screenshot (I zoomed in and took multiple pictures, piecing them together.)

I believe in developing a detailed bio for all the characters I create, so that they're not just pretty faces. Granted, my characters don't appear in my art because I don't feel confident enough to draw them, but by developing them to this depth, it tells others what kind of personalities I like to give my characters.

blaa, i can't stand the slutty looking FCs either. Rouge might have been the reason why people think it's ok to make other charactes like that. really though, if someone's going to make a likable girl character, they need to make her unique and give her a better purpose than being (dare i say it) a mary-sue

Just so you know, I didn't actually draw this. I constructed Reena's appearance with ~chriserony 's Sonic Charrie Maker. I do take credit, however, for assembling (in pieces) a large-size screenshot of the character, as well as the background for the picture.

I used the Sonic Charrie Maker ([link] ) to construct the look of the character itself. I added the background in Photoshop.

More work went into this than what appears on the surface. After assembling the look of the character with the character creator, I zoomed in on the picture, took screenshots in parts, and assembled the parts into a complete picture in Photoshop, which is why the image is larger than the character creator it came from. Also, I used a plain background in the character creator, which made it easy to erase and substitute a background of my own. I created something that I thought suited the character's appearance.
