Description In 1993 Kimberly Philips worked as the costume and prop research for a popular comedy series filmed at Malleton studios..... Malleton outside the town of the same name in it's heyday was known for it's horror division during the 50's. By the 70's standards had changed and the studios usual tiny budgets just couldn't compete and films began to look old before their time. By the 80's the Malleton closed it's divisions and leted the studios out to various tv and film companies. This was were Kimberly came in, she was looking for a naff looking monster costume for in the studio vaults.                                                                                     She found many old dusty specimens of the studios past glories and one in particular which she remembered was 'Ape Beast' from the film series that ran through out the late 50's. The Ape Beast was supposedly a pre-historic sasquatch like creature which time after time some 19th century mad scientist kept bringing it back to life and from there it caused mayhem, destruction and murder. It was hunted and killed in various ways and brought back to life again.                  Though terrified her as a kid she now found the costume itself risible and perfect for what she was looking for. Firstly as she pulled it off the rack she couldn't help fulfilling her nostalgia and tried on the costume. Firstly she found it too big, but the actor who used to play the beast was over 6ft 5. Soon she began to fill hot, and when she couldn't find the zip she began to panic. The costume seemed to feel as if it was shrinking and beginning to fit her. Growing ever hotter and panicked she past out.                                                                                                                                                                                                               Later she found herself slumped against the try half out of the costume and partially naked. Horrified by the avent and the aftermath, she destroyed the costume and pretended she never found it. However after the it's first taste of freedom in 35 years the Ape Beast didn't forget Kimberly.

Thank you, I wanted to add a Sasquatch like character to my list, yet set in southern England it had to have a different origin to myth. I felt as I was colouring it that I made some design floors I wasn't happy about, the monster half was beginning to look a little Christopher Lee in a hairy monster costume. Plus as I was watching a making of a Red Dwarf series at the time, I decided to forego realism and actually make it look like a monster costume. The brief pin pointing story just flew out. It also appeals to my love of semi inanimate creature transformations.
