I dig the lighting effects you did with her hair, it is simple, yet leaves me wonder how come I never thought to do that.

Ah, and effects like these are usually something that clicks with me when you see something similar on a photo. There's so many subtle little things that you can learn and imitate, and every time you get something down, there's another layer of detail below it.

Very nice, if rough painting. I like the contrast between background and portrait. It makes her stand out well, and the backgrounds colour scheme really compliments her armour.
