Description
A few days ago Twitter observed National Nude Day, which apparently exists, and after getting into a conversation about it with a friend I realized too late that a funny idea would've been to draw Moonbeam with all her fur shaved off. Instead of letting the idea go to waste, I wrote it into a comic instead.
This comic was surprisingly a lot of fun to make. I was especially dreading having to draw Zephyr, but he turned out to be more of a breeze than I thought. As usual, the backgrounds were fun to paint. I took the opportunity to slip a couple of Easter eggs in the interior of the barber shop. See if you can spot them.
I should also note that to my knowledge this may be the first comic where Moonbeam is off model for every panel. Her mane is slightly longer than usual as I don't usually draw it to cover her eyes. When you're cartooning you have to remember that the eyes are the most expressive so they should be as visible as possible. Then drawing her naked at the end essentially meant painting her flesh colored and taking away her mane and tail. It was bizarre yet hilarious at the same time.
Also, for the record, panel four is based on a SpongeBob time card. I've created panels like this before, but they were all black with white text over the top of them. I decided I'd change it up a little by hand writing all the lettering and adding a background. I found a tutorial on how to create strands of hair in GIMP. It's supposed to look like Moonbeam's fur behind the text. I'm not sure if it came out good or not so you'll have to tell me.
Finally, I should also mention that this will be my last comic before I head off to BronyCon.
I won't have time between now and then to write or illustrate anymore comics so I'll be back sometime after my trip is over.
