Description
So the story is that Apollo made fun of Cupid (which was a dumb move) so Cupid shot him with an arrow and made him fall madly in love with the nymph Daphne. And Cupid also shot Daphne, but with an arrow that made her absolutely loathe Apollo. So Apollo goes running after Daphne and she, naturally, runs away, and calls to her dad, a river god, for help. He turns her into a laurel tree so that Apollo can't act on his amorous mood. (Of course, Apollo kind of wins in the end anyway because as a tree, Daphne can't run away. So he stands there for awhile and runs his hands all over her, which I can't imagine Daphne enjoyed.) Hence, one of Apollo's notable items is the laurel wreath.

(Fun fact: At some point, Apollo falls in love with a man called Hyacinthus, who when he dies, as you guessed it, turns into a Hyacinth. There seems to be a trend of Apollo and plantlife....)

Anyway, that's some fascinating Greco-Roman myth for you. The picture is Daphne. All in Photoshop, and the first original piece I've done in what feels like ages....
