This was a heartbreaking episode and you captured it beautifully and tragically well here.
Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime has a very big spark and would fight to the last to defend those he loves. But to have to protect them from his predecessor, who himself had been a beloved leader? Someone who, he believes, would never had been in this state had he personally not interfered in the fight that cost this same leader his life?
One can only imagine how heavy that must wight on him.

"Optimus!" "the ships being blown to pieces we're evacuating!!!" "Optimus prime to autobot fleet......return to Cybertron...that is my last request...." "no autobot could survive that!" "Until all... are one......" *ship explodes taking optimus with it...* "goodbye old friend...." "this nova will be his memorial i dont know if ill be the leader you were...but for sure im gonna try..." *optimus's hologram appears in the sky* "so long...Prime........." god that made me cry.........

I always thought Optimus would have felt - almost raped. These were the people he died for and the Quints turned him on them. And here is Rodi - already feeling guilty for meddling in the fight that got Op killed in the first place - having to fight him and "kill" him again. Honestly...this is one of the most psychologically damaging scenes imaginable.

I remember that ep--they couldn't have done any thing more cruel, aside when they killed Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet and the others in the movie.
