At some point I saw this picture somewhere that stuck to my head. I can't remember where or who it was by, but I got a bit obsessed about doing my own version. I've had this image in my head for so long though, that at this point I wouldn't be suprised if the orinal picture isn't anything like it. Brain works in mysterious ways...This is probably the most thought out lighting set up I've ever used in my photos, I even drew a sketch!
And it came out pretty close to the image in my head. 
Thanks to +suzi9mm , who let me use her octabox (which is a softbox really, just not square 
) and another of her flashes on the background. I also used a little wide angle flash of mine. So three flashes in all. I fell in love with that octabox and flash so badly that I had to order myself one as well... 
Oh and who would have known feather boas can be so multi-functional.

i really like the feathers around the eyes. i'm not sure about having them be such contradictory colors though. the pink lipstick looks pretty on jenni and does kind of bring the white and red together. her hair looks nice draped over her shoulder. i wish you knew where to find the image that inspired this. it would be interesting to see.

anyway, im not sure what you think of the spill light thats blowing out some of the hair and shoulder, but if you want to get rid of that, just move the model away from the background..
however it doesnt totally detract from this particular... just in the future, you should shoot from different distances from the background.. that way you have the option of having spill light or not...

im considering on getting the octabox... it to me would be best when lighting the eyes.. making it more natural i think like circles not a square ( yanno the white dot in the eye - the whatever you need to make a perfect portrait LOL )

I really love the feathers, and the posing. Its strange to see a woman who I'm used to expecting such dark and mysterious work from in such a soft setting. I dont know her personally, so I cant speak like I do...
The only part I dont really like is the over exposed on her shoulder... but thats just me

this is your best portrait of jen, imo. the posing and styling look great. she looks relaxed. you lost the line of her shoulder a bit in the background, but it's not a serious flaw. i like how you positioned her hair to add flow to the composition. well done!

Honestly..... I would have liked one feather and not the other. And probably the white as I feel the red clashes with the lip stick. Though both would have been alright if the lip stick had been the same shade of red. But thats me. Othewise I think it is a beautiful portrait.
